3 more months later...

Nicole

I sat in the little apartment I was renting on my bed, reading a textbook for school. Its been exactly 3 months since I walked out of me and Elite's wedding and we still weren't together nor talking. I haven't even seen him since the wedding.

The thought of him being a father to the child of the woman that tried to break us up was aggravating. Of course I loved him still. I just needed time to think.

How could he keep such a big secret from me...for so long? He knew that Vanessa was the reason we broke up once before in the past. Why not tell me that he had a daughter by her?

I sighed, getting up to get Leighanne who had just started crying. It's been hard without him, I admit. Constantly needing a baby sitter for Leigh while I went to work as an assistant for a fashion designer in the city to make ends meet. Luckily my dad was around to help and Janelle and Chris too, even though Jay was near her due date.

I decided not to keep Elite away from Leigh though, so I brought Leighanne over to Janelle's on the weekends so he could come get her from their house. I didn't wanna see him yet and I refused to let Janelle or Chris to tell him my address. I needed a little more time to think straight.

After getting her to settle down by turning on Sesame Street, I rested her on my lap, holding her bottle up to her mouth, feeding her and continued reading when my phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered, with my eyes glued to the book still.

"Nicki, whatcha doing?" Janelle asked.

"I'm just reading this chapter for class. Did you read it yet?"

"Girl, no," She laughed. "Shit, my fat ass sitting at this table eating pickles and peanut butter."

"Ew," I chuckled. This girl had the weirdest snack cravings. Even I wasn't that bad "Jay, you gotta do ya homework."

"Oh no, no, no. I'm pregnant as fuck and if Mr. Coles got a problem with me not reading a damn chapter, I'll gladly remind him that."

I laughed. "You are something else."

"And you know this. But um," She smacked her gums together. "Elite was just over here."

"Oh," I replied, pretending not care, knowing damn well I did. "How is he?"

"Girl, he's a mess without you. He looked like he hasn't slept in years. Grown out a lil beard and everything. I can't believe it but I'm feeling sorry for him. When you gonna give Litey Lite a chance again?"

I sighed. "I don't know, Jay. He was keeping secrets from me for so long, how can I trust him, you know? This is the second time he hid something dealing with Vanessa from me."

"Nicki, he changed for you though. Before you came into the picture, he had a different hoe every other day. Then he met you, changing his mind about commitment and buying a ring and proposing to you and shit, getting out the streets...for you. He loves you and you only and every time he comes over here its obvious he's still missing you. Look, you could be mad at him all you want but you can't deny that you love him too. The sooner y'all make that clear to each other, the sooner y'all could get back together."

"Jay...I don't know. I'll think about."

"Thats all I'm asking you to do, Nic. He misses you, Nicki. Besides, y'all technically still married. So you gone have make something happen or get a divorce three months after your wedding."

"I'll talk to you later, okay?" I said, feeling my emotions come back in tact.

"Okay, hun, goodnight."

"Goodnight and you better read that chapter, Jay!" I added. She laughed.

"Okay, okay."

We hung up and laid back looking at Leigh's green eyes concentrating on the tv. I couldn't lie. I missed Elite too and Leigh's eyes always seemed to remind me of him, no matter how hard I tried to forget him.

"You miss daddy, Leigh?" I asked her. She grinned, letting out a cute baby noise. I smiled, kissing her cheek. "Me too."

Elite

I sat up in the empty, quiet house watching a basketball game. It's been 3 months since the wedding and I honestly couldn't think straight without Nicole and Leighanne near me.

I was slowly going crazy without them around all the time.

I tried to focus all my time in my new job with my dad but my mind stayed on Nicole day and night. I missed her. A lot.

I even convinced Vanessa to let me hang out with Amaya to get started on being apart of her life. But guilt shot up in me every time I was around her. I couldn't help but think about how I did Nicole wrong when I see Amaya.

Don't get me wrong, though, I love Amaya. She was beautiful and playful and happy all the time. I loved the way she was. I just couldn't help but keep reminding myself that she was the reason why I couldn't be with my wife.

The doorbell rang and I got up to get it and I saw Misty standing there, in a peacoat and uggs.

"Can I come in?" She asked, holding onto her peacoat. I nodded

"Yeah," I said, stepping aside. She came in and took a seat on the couch, looking around.

"Since when do you clean?" She asked, looking surprised. I shrugged.

"Somebody gotta do it."

She nodded, looking back at me. "How you holding up?"

"I'm cool, I guess," I lied, looking at the game on the tv again.

"Don't give me that," She said, seeing right through my lie. "You miss her don't you?"

"Yeah," I sighed. "I miss her a lot."

"Elite..." She said slowly, running a hand over my leg. "She needs her space. Give her some time."

"Yeah, I know," I said, sighing. "Shit is just frustrating though. I know she has to have time to think but how can I just completely stop talking to someone I love? Its hard as hell."

"Maybe you need a distraction," She said, standing up and dropping her peacoat, revealing her naked body. I was taken back, as she stood in front of me naked.

"Misty the fuck-"

"Elite, please," She pleaded, climbing on top of me, tugging at my basketball shorts. "I need you inside of me. I can't take it anymore."

I got up, pushing her off of me. "Misty, the hell is ya problem? I'm not having sex witchu. I just told you what I'm going through with Nicki and you pull this shit on me?"

She sighed. "She left you at the alter of your own wedding! She clearly don't love you like she says she do."

"Thats not true. And it was my fault that she left me! She had every right to do that. I did her wrong and I respect her for leaving. I don't like it but I do respect it."

She rolled her eyes, getting up. "Oh whatever, Elite! Damn! I hope she leaves you for good. Here I am, busting my ass to hold you down in every way possible and make sure you're okay and you focused on someone who hasn't even attempted to make your relationship work. Can't you see that I'm your rider, Elite?"

"How bout you just ride the fuck up outta here then?" I said, holding the door open for her. "With your fake ass! Breaking me and Nicki up so that you could get some dick from me? You're fucking pathetic. Dip."

She snatched her coat up and wrapped it around her before walking toward me. "For the record, I didn't break y'all up. You did because you can't keep your dick in ya pants. I'm proud of you though, its about time you told a female no. Umph. Fuck you, Elite."

I sucked my teeth, slamming the door in her face. She won't be saying that shit once I tell Chris to kick her sneaky ass out the business. Lets see where she end up after that.
