Day Six

I wake feeling comfortable under warm blankets. A tray warmer sits on my kitchen counter. I discover scrambled eggs, ham, cheeses, and fruit. I fill a plate and settle on my balcony. I watch what I assume are five or six deer, cross a meadow. It is a bright summer morning with a soft perfume of forest air. Madge steps out on our balcony then moves toward me as she gazes at green hills.

"It's a beautiful morning Tammy. Do you mind if I sit with you for a moment?"

"You are more than welcome anytime, Madge. I gather from chatter yesterday that you had your moments as a shit disturber?"

"I never had your finesse, but I'd say in some ways we're very similar. I was the girl who kept kicking hornet's nests." She smiles, "I got stung a couple of times. You're far more effective. You cut a tree branch off. Hornets follow their nest as you start a bonfire with the branch, nest, and hornets as a center post."

"Nice analogy, but I do not think I deserve that compliment. Where are the others?"

"It's nine fifteen. Clair and Jess are off making media ads. Executive staffs are in our office. They cancelled the executive meeting this morning, so we let you sleep. You deserved a good night's sleep."

I am on my feet.

Madge laughs, "Sit Tammy. Relax. Our world will continue without you. No need to check at our office, all is well. Gerry expects you at his office at ten. Enjoy your coffee."
