Chapter 36: Surprise Attack

You slid down the dune like a surfer, making a "Whoo!" sound as you slid and landed with an "Oof!"
You all were in a big group. Minho ignited a flashlight and looked around. "Where the hell are we?" Minho asked. Thomas looked at you, then the others. "We gotta go." he said. "No." said Teresa. 
"-We gotta keep moving."
"-Thomas stop!" Teresa said, raising her voice. "Tell me what's going on." she said sternly in panic. Thomas walked up to Teresa. "It's WICKED." Thomas said. Teresa's expression went blank. "It's WICKED. They lied to us. We never escaped."
 Teresa furrowed her eyebrows for a millisecond, but her face stared blankly. Something was up with her.
"Y/N, Aris, and I, we found bodies. Too man to count."
"What do you mean? Dead bodies?" Minho asked.
 "-No." you chimed in. "But, they weren't alive either. They had them strung up like marionettes. With tubes coming out of them. They were being drained from their body fluids."

You notice Teresa holding the back of her neck, nervously, but didn't think much it, though thinking was a big thing for you.
"There's something inside of us that WICKED wants. Something in our blood." said Thomas. 
"-They want our blood because they think our blood cells, our white blood cells could help them find a cure for the Flare." you say as anger stirred inside you. "That's why we need to get as far away from here as possible." Thomas cut in.

Newt looked to you, them to Thomas, hands on his hips. "Okay, so what's the plan?" Newt asked. Total silence. You were going through a plan in your head, thinking it through before saying anything. 

Thomas spoke up "Yeah, I don't know." 
"-Well, we followed you out here Thomas, and now you're saying that you have no idea where we're going or what we're doing." Newt said, upset. "Calm thyself Newt, I have a plan." you say coolly. "I heard Janson say something about The Right Arm."
All eyes were on you.
"My guess is that it's some sort of resistance army against WICKED because while I heard them argue about whether I should be harvested or not, Paige said that if I weren't harvest, I could possibly find a way to escape and find the Right Arm to become their source to destroy WICKED and their years of work." you finish. "But, where would we find them?" Frypan asked. "I heard Janson say that they were located somewhere in the mountains." you reply.

"-Yeah and if they really are against WICKED, maybe they can help us." Thomas agreed. 
Newt shook his head "People. In the mountains. Mountain people. Are you sure this is a good plan, Y/N?" 
"It's the best chance we have, Newt." you reply.
"Hey, guys." Winston chimed n. "Check this out."

You all looked in his direction. "Minho, gimme a light." he said. Minho lit the flashlight toward the ground where you see footprints in the sand. "Someone's been down here."
The footsteps led down a narrow pathway. You then started to walk down the mysterious hallway. You stopped when Minho stopped in front of a gated door. "Come on. Open up." he said. You and the others helped Minho slide the door up and walked inside.

You found lanterns, flashlights, supplies. You picked up a flashlight and clicked the button that ignited it. "Looks like people live here." Minho commented as he ruffled a jacket. "Where are they now?" asked Newt, flashing his light around. You then spoke up "We need to gather some of this stuff up." you picked up a jean jacket and ruffled it. "Take as much as you can carry. We won't know for sure how far away the mountains are until sunrise. Every inch of your skin except maybe your hands and face needs to be covered. Once the sun rises, it will be like walking on the sun and we won't want to burn ourselves. Or it will be just like Janson said, we won't last one day out in the Scorch."

"Yeah." Thomas agreed . "Let's split up. Se what we else we can find. Meet back here."
Thomas lit a flashlight. "Let's go."

Thomas and Minho went left outside the gate, Winston and Aris went right, while you Newt, Teresa, and Frypan stayed where you were.
