Nitara was just about to take a sip..

..when she smelt something off about the juice. She again took a sniff.

Wolfsbane.

The thought that he wanted to harm her didn't rattle her too much, but the fact that this would kill her pup enraged her wolf immensely.

'Hudson hold the glass. Smell it.'

She shoved the glass in his hand and her hand directly went to his throat.

Gabriel was flabbergasted at what she was doing.

"Tara?"

But it was not Nitara.

Lena has taken over.

From the corner of her eyes she saw beta female and Tasha trying to flee.

"Capture this mutt's family." Nitara spoke in a voice that held so much authority that they were compelled to do that.

Some of the wolves that were near them acted instantly and held them with their arms behind their back and bought them to their future luna.

"Nitara would you tell me what is goin.."

Gabriel was interupted by Hudson who has by then figured out what was happening.

"This has wolfsbane in it." Hudson said pointing to the glass.

There was a collective gasp from the onlookers.

Alpha Reed tried to collect the proof, but his wolf was just begging to kill the mutt who has tried to harm his grandpup.

But this was not the case with Gabriel.

Who lunged for Zachary the moment it clicked in his brain but stopped when his father told him to in his alpha voice.

He asked for Nitara to stop chocking Zachary but she was not in her right mind.

'Gabriel, calm Nitara please otherwise she will shift. The stress would not be good for your pup.'

Gabriel moved to Nitara and placed a hand on her back pulling her in his embrace.

Sensing her mate's touch Lena eased her grip and fell back in his arms.

Zachary fell on his knees coughing.

She turned and buried her face in his chest seeking his comfort.

Then alpha turned to Hudson,

"How can you say that?"

"Nitara and I have studied herbalism. We know the herbs and can identify some herbs that are vital and dangerous to werewolves through their smell."

He paused and looked at his sister.

"You can get this tested if you want."

He handed the glass to alpha.

He rubbed his sister's back, she left Gabriel's embrace and hugged him tightly.

Gabriel felt a pang of jealousy but decided this wasn't the time. She needed comfort right now, if Hudson is providing it then be it so.

"Why?"

It was Alpha Reed who questioned him.

By now he has stopped coughing.

"Because this is my place."

Tasha still had the haughty attitude.

"Are all of you that dumb?" Gabriel roared.

"You all are so delusional. I only talked to you because you are my bestfriend's sister. I don't even know what gave you this idea that I will ever make you my luna."

He looked at her with disgust.

"You are so arrogant. You have no compassion whatsoever. I am sure, if I ask right now if anyone here respects you, no one will come forward."

By now she is looking down.

"Lilian and Tasha are to be exiled the same way Beta Sharman was. Zachary would be whipped 50 times in the public square tomorrow and then he will have the same fate as his family."

Alpha announced.

"The whip should be laced with wolfsbane."

Gabriel said the final words before collecting his mate in his arms and carrying her towards the woods. He knew the clearing would definitely cheer her up.

'Can any gathering ever end without our mate getting upset.' Kaiden growled in his head.

"Are you okay?"

Came a little voice.

Gabriel looked down at his mate and saw that she was worried about her.

"Little wolf." Gabriel sighed.

"I should be the one to ask you that."

"I am good."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes Gabe."

They were silent for some time.

"I sometime thank god profusely that you are so curious."

Nitara looked at him confused.

"Your curiosity for knowledge. If you hadn't studied herbalism you would have drank that juice today. And then.."

Nitara interupted him,

"Nothing would happen."

"How can you say that?"

"You were there with me. I trust you. You wouldn't have let anything happen to me."

Gabriel looked at her.

Moon goddess has truly blessed him so that his paths crossed with Nitara.

He can't even imagine being with anyone else.

She might not have been his destined other half.

But he will never want anyone else.

Just her.

His little wolf.

His mate

His Nitara.
