First,
And foremost,
I wish you a Happy Birthday,
I wish you smiles,
I wish you would share laughs with those you care about till your sides hurt,
I wish you enjoying the day,
Even though I know you have to work,
I wish you happiness on this day,
For you are a gift on this earth,
Whether you can see it or not.
I wish I could say this in person,
I wish our past wasn't so battered and bruised,
I wish you still had a part to play in my life,
Not just a footnote,
Or a cliffhanger of "what if?".
I wish we could hang out like before,
I wish we could hike together once more,
I wish you were my Friend again...
But we can't.
Our bridges burned with no other way across our Valley of Emotions.
So I sit on my side,
Wondering if I could have fixed it all,
Or if the results would end the same.
So Happy Birthday,
I wish you all the best on this day,
And the rest of your days,
I wish I could say all of this in person,
But the message wouldn't be understood as a Goodbye...
