The smell of sweat hung heavy in the air.
This place was once a warehouse, but had been converted many years ago, and was now a training room for the Alphas during their stay for the Altum ball.

Everything was grey, the large open space painted a dreary colour.

Large black mats meant for sparring littered the floor.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Arden squeaked, running along side me towards the black mats.

"She can't back out now." Hades growled, walking the other side of me. But he didn't look at me, his gaze was fixed straight ahead, until he grabbed me arms, pulling me to one side.

His face was so close to mine I could feel his warm breaths fanning my skin. He looked deadly serious.

"I need you to win this for the sake of the pack."

I understood, loosing would make Black Thorn look weak. "Well it's not exactly like I plan on loosing." I scoffed, trying to pull away from his grasp, but he didn't budge, instead his grip tightened.

"I'm serious, Amelia." He hissed. "...Aim for the throat. He's stronger than you, but you're faster. Use every advantage you have."

I nodded and he let go.

I stepped onto one corner of the mat, at the opposite corner stood Jackson, viciously cracking his knuckles. Alphas and Lunas alike crowded around, until I could no longer find Hades' face in the crowd.

I wasn't expecting the fist that slammed into my jaw, taking me by surprise. I fell to the floor, clutching my cheek as a white hot swerving pain shot through the right side of my face. "Fuck." He was stronger than I had thought.
A few outraged cries surged from the crowd, mainly from the Lunas, who were soon silenced by their mates.
So he wanted to play dirty.
I rolled to the ride when he brought his foot down where I had been just seconds before. I scrambled to my feet, trying desperately to claw together what little shreds of my composure remained, my cheek throbbed, but my heart pounded harder.

Before a fight like this would have filled me with rage, making me desperate to win in anyway I could.

-But now. I had nothing.

Where there was once anger lay only fear.
-and that was what scared me most of all.

He swung again and I ducked, kicking out as I went down, swiping his legs out from underneath him. Jackson crumpled to the floor with a bang, unsettling the thin layer of dust that had settled on the ground over time.

I waited for him to regain his feet before punching him in the throat. Just like Hades had told me to. He stumbled back, coughing and gasping for air. "You little bitch!" He roared, surging forward. I had no time to dive out the way before he body slammed me to the floor, knocking all the air from my lungs. I spluttered and choked, feeling sick when I recalled the feeling of something snapping deep within me. I clutched at my ribs, tears brimming in my eyes from the pain.

- But Jackson wasn't done.
He crawled on top of me, pinning me to the floor.

The first punch sent my head slamming into the floor, the world shook and spun dangerously and black dots began to line my vision. Blood began to pool in my mouth, so I spat it strait into Jackson's face. The sent of his rage seeped out of every pore as he rained a hail storm of blows down upon every inch of my skin that he could reach.

I did the only thing I could think of, I brought my knee up hard between his legs, he fell forward, his head inches away from my neck and I felt his sour breath fan against my neck.

My lips were level with his ear, I felt a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach from having a man this vile so close. It took every ounce of strength that I had to whisper through a bloody tongue and bruised lips. "Fuck you."

I didn't remember much after that.
My last moments were of several Alphas rushing forward to pull him off of me, what I did remember however... We're Jackson's thick hands wrapping around my throat.
"That's enough!" Hades roared, "Get off of her!"

But Jackson didn't stop.

It wasn't long after that the world fell into darkness.
