A girl finds herself stuck in an asylum with a boy who is the only sane person there. The nurses smell weird and give off a uncanny feeling only to her. The girl doesn't know who to trust after a "incident." Will the girl escape with the boy or is the boy the devil in disguise or maybe it's the asylum that's doing it, who knows read the book to find out.

In the Victorian Era, a descendant of a wealthy family finds himself dwelling amongst his inherited mansion. Over time he is afflicted by madness, isolation, and paranoia. He soon becomes convinced that a statue his ancestors were obsessed with has now come to life and is stalking him.

We were never close, my brother and I, we had different fathers yes, and our mother barely glanced at us. It was no surprise when a man came and offered her money to buy me. She accepted immediately. I wasn't surprised, but I loved her and wanted to please her, but I hated the look in the man's eyes. He grabbed my hand and dragged me out, I looked back at them, my mother and brother. Eventually I made my way to some woods and hid, he found me immediately and grabbed my arm. I closed my eyes, preparing for the worst, when I heard a thump then silence. I opened my eyes to see the man next to me, only he was on his stomach, a hatchet embedded in his back. I looked up to see him, my brother, his face blank but in his eyes was something I couldn't describe. He looked at me once and then walked away, I followed.
