Amber's P.O.V

I pulled into my driveway and parked my car.

I took a deep breath before getting out and walking inside.

"You're early today!" Mum said and I looked up at the clock.

It was 3:15.... usually I get home at around 3:35.

"Yeah... we got out of school early, because its the last day before the holidays. And I took a shortcut around town to avoid traffic."

"Oh, you'll have to show me that short cut sometime!"

"Uhh... yeah." I walked upstairs and into my room, slamming the door behind me.

After getting changed, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked it. I already had 2 missed calls and a text from Ryan. I opened the text.

 ~

From: Ryan Smith.

Heeyy.  I'm sorry, again.  Call me?

 ~

I sighed and turned my phone off.

I lay on my bed, facing the roof, and just lay there, thinking.

Ryan kissed me.

Ryan Smith kissed me!

A smile spread across my face.

It's sad, I know, but that was my first kiss.

What if he likes me?

But we're only friends, that wouldn't happen.

It was just a spur of the moment thing.

Nothing to worry about.

I have definitely overreacted.

I should probably ring him.

But what if he gets angry at me for running away like that?

He wont.

He'll forgive me.

Will he?

*Tap.*

What the hell?

*Tap*

What is that?

*Tap.....Tap*

Is that coming from my window?

*Tap*

I walked over to the window to see Ryan on the ground, throwing pebbles to my second-storey window.

I opened the glass and stuck my head out into the open, fresh air.

"Ryan?"

"Amber, oh Amber I'm sorry. Why didn't you answer my calls?"

"Sorry, I had it off when I was driving."

"Oh okay.."

"I was just about to ring you, actually." I said, smiling down to him.

"Oh... really?"

"Hold on a sec." I told him and closed the window and curtain.

I quickly changed into jeans and a pan t-shirt and ran down the stairs and to Mum in the kitchen.

"I'm going out for a bit."

"Amber you need to stop going our everyday, you need to save your money and wasting it on petrol is not a good idea!"

"I know Mum, can we talk about this later?"

"Don't be long then."

"Yep, ok, bye!" I grabbed my keys and put them in my handbag.

"Bye honey."

I walked outside to be greeted by Ryan standing out the front, leaning on an old ute.

"Nice car." I complimented, looking at the lime green paint.

"I know, aye! Now get in the car."

"Why?" I asked.

"Let's go get some food and have a chat."

"We don't have to do that." I replied.

"It will be as an apology, and as celebrating for the beginning of 2 weeks of holidays!"

"Fine.." I said and climbed into the passenger side of his car.

When he turned on the car, the radio instantly blared out some kind of horrible music, so I turned it almost fully down and gladly Ryan didn't protest or turn it back up.

*  *  *

"Amber. Amber?" I heard a soft voice say.

"What? What happened?" I replied and shot up in my seat, but was restrained by the seatbelt.

"Yo fell asleep. We're here. C'mon, let's go get dinner."

"Oh.. ok.... sorry I fell asleep, Ryan!"

"It's fine! You hungry?"

"Very!"

"Good."

He handed me a $50 note.

"Now, can you go into that Fish and Chip shop and order a Large chips with chicken salt and two Chicko rolls?"

"Uhh, sure. Why is a fish and chip shop such a surprise?"

"The shop isn't the surprise..... now once you have ordered, you have to stay in there until they are ready. When they are ready, text me and then come outside to the car."

"Umm... ok?"

"Go!"

I walked into the shop, ordered our food, and sat down on the one of the waiting chairs.

"Amber! Hey!" I looked up to see Matt, a random guy from school. He's one of Ryan's friends, and absolutely hates me.

"Hi." I muttered and pulled my phone out, pretending to text someone

"What are you up to babe?" He slurred out and sat on my lap. I could smell beer on his breath.

"Get off me." I pushed him off and stood up.

"Number 37? Amber?" The old lady yelled out.

I walked over to the counter, picked up the food and texted Ryan.

 ~

To: Ryan Smith

All done... I'm coming out now :)

 ~

I stepped outside and walked up the quiet road to Ryan's car.

And I couldn't believe what I saw.
