Your POV

I really didn't want to go back. I lived in Tulsa for a few years with my mom and dad until they got a divorce,  she found out he cheated on her and had a whole other family on the side.

I wasn't mad at him, I hated his guts and was glad to leave him. I still had scars from him, emotional and physical.

It wasn't all bad in Tulsa, I had a few friends. Keith, Dallas, Darrel, Steve and Sodapop. I only had boys as friends, girls didn't like hanging out with me that much because I was more into things that guys would typically like.

I liked my group of guy friends they treated me as if I were one of the guys, I will admit to having a bit of a school girl crush on Sodapop but he was my best friend and I didn't want to ruin our friendship, plus I was too chicken shit to ever tell him.

The only person I ever told was Keith, he was a little older than all of us but that didn't stop us from hanging out with him, cause he acted the same age, even younger sometimes.

Darrel and Sodapop were brothers, they had a younger brother named Ponyboy, Mr. Curtis sure was an original man. Soda, Steve and I were all the same age, seven, when I moved away. Darrel was three years older, keith was five years older and Dallas was one year older.

We were about as close as you could get, always hanging out, mostly at Soda and Darrel's house, cause there was always fighting in mine.

Then I had to move and I lost everything,  friends, school and the little swing set in my backyard. But I did gain one thing, a healthy non-abusive relationship with my mother, which clearly didn't last long, she just recently died of an overdose. She was my best friend, she understood me.

"Are you ready sweetie?" A voice snapped me out of my day dream, it was my Aunt Carol. I had been staying with her while all the legal stuff was going on with my father.

"Oh..uh, yeah I guess." Tears were filling her eyes, "okay." She turned away quickly. She walked me out to the cab and waved as we pulled out of the drive way, and sped down the road to my new life.
