25. My Garden

My garden is my pride and joy:
A special place for you and me
To spend our time together,
Amongst a thousand different hues.

Though I'm not sure you'd approve
–I have a strange choice of blooms–
you'll not find my flowers in any store
In fact– you can't buy them at all!

But you can find them, that's for sure.
Just take a few steps
To the vacant land down the block,
And there you'll find them
In all their fiery glory.

The masses call them weeds
And stamp on them with their feet.
But I call them survivors
I call them queens.

I'll not uproot them.
They can take over my whole garden,
And I'll not give a hoot.

This is just a really fun little thing that I wrote a few weeks ago when I was trying to get the writing juices flowing again. It's not very good and I think it's quite muddled, but it made me happy to write and gave me tons of new ideas.
I think it harks back to some of my earlier works, it seems to me that whenever I've had a bit of writers block, when I come back to writing, it's almost always about nature, specifically flowers and trees.
