21. Her Shackled Heart

225 16 25

Still she haunts me
Violet eyes
Of tragic past
Crimson heart
Scarred and split
Stitched together
With frayed old yarn
     Shackled hands
And bound, chained feet
        Face of steal
   And mind of stone
    Chipped and torn
   And broken inside
Void of faith
And void of love
    Void of all
But one single thought
    One single want
    One single need
But what that is
I know not
For she never spoke a word
Nor uttered a sound

This is a very different style of poetry, probably inspired by some poetry collections I've been reading lately. I was playing around  in this one and I'm not sure how it turned out. Instead of breaking it up into stanzas I decided to change the position of the lines. This poem cost me blood, sweat and tears to write– literally! While I was reading through it I somehow managed to slam the cupboard door on my nose. 😭
Only Anne could manage to do something like that. 😂
Anyway I really hope you enjoy it. please tell me what you think.
