Liam exhaled, then began counting backwards from ten.

Scott stood there, hand still on the doorknob, and the door open.

Liam is eighteen weeks along, with a now noticeable bump.

Since Liam began to show, Scott has pushed himself even further into protective mode.

At first, Liam did not mind. He did enjoy being pampered, this baby was a hassle.

"You cannot drink coffee."
Scott snatches the cup away from Liam's hands.

Liam blinks.
"You're wrong." Liam reaches for his coffee cup. "Melissa said I could."
Scott holds the cup over his head, and looked down "Sorry. No coffee until the baby is born."

Liam stomped off angrily.

Later in the day, after Liam was calmed, he agreed to go shopping with Scott.

Which only would turn into a nightmare.

"Uh cold cuts?"

Liam bared his fangs. So did Scott. Scott growled, his eyes burning red. Liam cowered.

"Leave me alone Scott." Liam warned.
"I am trying to help Liam."
"You are smothering me!" Liam shouted.
Scott nods his head, but remains silent.
"Okay."

Liam watched as Scott walks out of the grocery store.

"Come back." Liam whispered.
Covering his eyes, Liam slide to the floor.

He had lost Scott.

"Liam? Liam."
Liam looked up, having to blink to clear his eyes from the tears.
"Liam."
Melissa is squatting in front of him.
"Melissa." Liam hiccuped.
"Scott called me. Come on."
Melissa pulled Liam up, wrapping his right arm around her neck.
Liam limped next to her as they walked.

Melissa gets Liam into her car.
Liam covered his face.
"Tell me what happened." Melissa says.
"Scott hates me." Liam begins.
"Liam-" Melissa tried.
"It's true!" Liam growled. "Because of this baby!"
Melissa looked at Liam, then at his bump.
He nodded with approval.
Melissa sets her hands on Liam's bump "He trying to shield you."
"From what! What Melissa!"
Melissa sighs "You are Part of his Pack. You know Scott will protect his friends."
"We are more than friends." Liam adds, nodding down to his bump.
"Yes, You are. Liam, he is trying to protect you, and the baby, with the only way he knows how. To be overbearing."
Liam sniffled a laugh.
Melissa smiled "He loves you Liam. And I know you love my son. And this baby."
Liam runs his finger against the side of his belly.
"Was I in the wrong?"
"You both were." Melissa said. "You need to explain to Scott that you still can protect yourself. But, you also should be aware of how much more protective Scott will be of you." Melissa finished.
Liam nods "I should go talk to him."
"You should. He is still in the car." Melissa pointed across the parking lot.
"He never left."
"He will never leave without you by his side." Melissa says.
Melissa kissed Liam's cheek, and nodded.

Liam sat in the passenger seat "Hi, Scott."
Scott looked up. His eyes were red.
"Please do not cry because of me." Liam asked.
"I am sorry Liam." Scott sniffled. "I have this feeling..like I have to protect everyone. Especially you."
Liam takes Scott's hand "I know you feel that way. But Scott, I can protect myself. I do not know what you are trying to shield away from me, but, we have fought side by side. I can fight too."
"And that was us in high school, huh?"
Liam nodded "Scott, listen. You as the Alpha, you will always feel the need to protect. But you have to also remember, you have a pack to help."
"I am sorry for being overbearing. I heard mum say that earlier." Scott confesses.
Liam chuckled "How about this? You can help, only, and only when I ask for your help?"
"That sounds fair."
Scott leans in to kiss Liam.

Scott cups Liam's cheek with one hand, as his other hand lays on his bump.

"How about we finish shopping?" Liam asks.
"Not forgetting the coffee." Scott added.
"Especially not forgetting the coffee." Liam agreed.
