Part 51 Nichole and Joe

Shane's POV

I wasn't nervous to meet Joey's dad again, he's a nice guy and I know he wants what is best for his son. But something tells me that he isn't the happiest about our relationship.

Joey, Nicole, Jett, Joe, Luke and I decided to go to a park. Mainly so that Jett could play with Nicole, Luke and Joey. I don't know how old Luke is, maybe around 17-18 but it's funny see three adults and a little kid play pirates.

Me and Joe decided to have a talk, get to know each other. We were under a tree so there was shade; it was pretty warm out today.

Shane: so Joe, what do you think of LA?

Joe: it's hot

Shane: yeah

Joe: tell me Shane, what's your dream?

Shane: for the future?

Joe: yes

Shane: well, I would like to become a director and, you know get married, get kids

Joe: adopt them or have them?

Shane: I don't have any other option than adopting...

Joe: alright, with Joey?

Shane: of course

I looked away from Joe and saw the others. I like to see Joey playing and having fun, he's so cute.

Shane: Joe, you don't think me and Joey are going to last, do you?

He took a deep breath

Joe: you know Shane, we can trust each other, so I'm going to be honest. You're Joey's second "love" and it's just some little high school romance. They usually don't last

Shane: oh.

I hate that Joe thinks that, I have never been in love before, and Joey really feels like the one.

Joe: but I hope you and Joey can make things work. And it's nice to be able to actually talk to the man he is dating

Shane: yeah, it's nice to talk to someone that knows Joey pretty well

Joe: so, where's your father? I didn't see him yesterday.

Shane: well um..

Joe: what is it Shane? You can talk to me

Shane: well, I don't see him

Joe: because of work?

Shane: no, he's in jail

Joe: oh sorry, what happened?

Shane: he... Was an alcoholic and was drunk all the time and used to hurt me, my mom and brothers. My brothers moved away when they were old enough but I wanted to stay with mom and make sure that she was okay. Then one day... Joey was over and... We didn't know it but, my dad had a gun and... he shot Joey

Joe: I knew about Joey being shot but I didn't know the guy was your dad, I'm sorry Shane

Shane: it's okay, I never liked him, he started to hit me when I was around 4 years old so I never really had a relationship with him

I looked down and played with the grass. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, it was Joe's.

Joe: don't worry Shane, I'm sure you have the best friends, boyfriend, mom and also Jett

Shane: yeah, I still remember the day that Jett came up to me and told me he saw me like a brother, and that meant so much to me. Sure, I never had a dad, but that doesn't mean I'll be a father like he was
