“We’re not gonna find anything here,” you whined towards Woojin. You shuffled through boxes of empty cans and bottles of milk.

Woojin put down the gun to help you find food, “There has to be something here. I mean we found cans of food here last time. Maybe we’ll be able to find it again.”

You gave him a dumb look, “Look here genius, if we took the food here last time, does it look like we’ll find food here this time?” You rummaged through the crates one last time, not finding a trace of food or medicine.

“Come with me, we’re gonna look on the other side,” he said gruffly.

“No, we’re not gonna find anything there. We have to sneak out to the restricted areas. That’s where we’ll find food. We practically used up everything in here,” you explained.

Woojin sighed, “No. I’m not risking it. I’m not willing to lose any of my friends again.” Your eyes softened. He had lost Chan when the both of them were searching for weapons in the restricted areas outside of the sanctuary. Chan was Woojin’s best friend, and you knew how hard it was for him to cope with his loss.

You held is shoulder, “But we need food and medicine. The people need it. We’re running out.”

He clenched his jaw, “No. I’m not gonna lose anyone like how I lost Chan.”

“It’s not your fault-”

“Yes it is Y/n,” he turned abruptly and walked back to the base.

“Did you find anything?” Minho asked.

You shook your head, “No. We’re running out too soon. People are sick, and we need medicine.” The tents were getting filled quicker than you thought. People weren’t dying from zombie attacks, but the flu. You make think the flu is harmless, but without treatment, it can lead to pneumonia. Especially in crowded places with a lot of people, they were more prone to getting sick. It was natural selection at its finest.

Minho turned towards the tents and shoved his hands in his lab coat, “I don’t know how long we’re gonna last Y/n. At this point, it’ll become an epidemic and we’d have to evacuate again.”

“I have an idea. I’ll get you the medicine, don’t worry,” you reassured the doctor.

Minho looked confused, “How are you gonna do that? You can’t find anything unless you raid the lab in the old hospital, and that area is restricted.”

“I have my ways.”

You waited for the guards to rotate before you could sneak out the gates. You’ve been in the sanctuary for a month if you remembered correctly. You had lost your sister ever since the both of your parents were killed by zombies. The two of you hid in the closet until everything was over. When she was asleep, you walked outside to find a food and water source. Sadly, you were taken away by the government’s guards before you could get back to her. When the guards came back for her, she was already gone.

You waited for the guard to leave his post before sneaking behind him and throwing your backpack over the gate. You slid under the fence smoothly and retrieved your backpack. Quickly, you ran down the stairs before the guards could find you. You took out your flashlight and shined it through the dark corridor. There were sounds of water dripping from the ceiling, and the floor boards beneath your boots creaked. Ever since Chan’s passing, the government forbid people from leaving without consent. However, the people were suffering, and Minho needed the medicine to treat them.
