Camila's POV

We decided to go back to Lauren's apartment for a while since it has a lot more space compared to my dorm room and we are going to hang out for the day with my sister.

Today has brought on a whirlwind of emotions for my sister and I. Thankfully Lauren hasn't been too pushy in making me explain the situation, but I know that it would be best to explain myself some time soon. As much as I love her, my sister has always gone out of her way to be the 'annoying little sibling,' as she has several times in the past. However, I didn't expect for her flat out say that I act like I have a crush on my girlfriend. I have never told her that we were dating or even liked each other.

The two of us follow Lauren up the stairs and through the hallway towards her room. Of course, the second the door is opened, we have a view of Dinah and Normani in the midst of a heavy make-out session on the couch. Lauren scoffs and continues to walk inside before throwing her bag at the couple. They instantly jump before barely separating themselves. "Of course, it's the world famous taco blocko ship. S.S. Camren barging in, Choo Choo." Dinah mutters out.

"Cut it out Dinah, there's a kid here." Lauren tries to reason with her roomate, explaining that the nine-year-old most likely did not want to see that. "Oh shit. Fuck. Umm- hey kid. Who is she?"

I give Dinah a death glare as a response to her foul-mouthed words around my kid sister and notice that Lauren and Mani are trying their hardest to suppress their laughter. "Dinah, Mani, this is my sister Sofi. Sofi, please don't talk to or even acknowledge Dinah."

I get to have some alone time with the my sister while the other three girls in the apartment decided on going for a run, since that's what the other couple already had planned to do.

"So those are some of the girls in your group, right?" I nod my head, "Yeah. See, I told you I had more friends than just Lauren."

"That is not what I said." She argued, "I asked if you had other friends that you don't have an obvious crush on." She continues with a mischievous grin. "And I said that I had other friends that I've talked about." I deflect.

"Is everybody in the group in a relationship besides you, Kaki? Where's Lauren's boyfriend that probably hates you so much? Wasn't there one more girl? Where is she?" I suddenly remember how many questions this girl could come up with. The only logical way to shut her up is to throw a pillow at her face, so I do so. There was not a big reaction, however, it did get the question machine to finally stop. "You ask a lot of questions."

"You don't answer any of my questions." I rolled my eyes as I got more comfortable on the couch. "Dinah and Normani are girlfriends. And yes, there's one more girl. Her name is Ally. She's probably at work or out with her secret date or something She's weird and mysterious, but we all love her." I answer honestly. "There were more questions. So you're the lonely one?" She concluded based on my avoidance of the one question. "Lauren broke up with her boyfriend shortly after I met her. He was not the person she thought he was and he didn't deserve her."

I could practically see the wheels turning in her head, I know she's been teasing me all day, but I am also aware that she is a smart kid. Any time she found something to tease me about, there was some truth to the matter. "I don't like that face Sofi. You're not allowed to do that." I virtually confirmed her thoughts, but she still seemed skeptical. "Lauren and I are dating." I simply put it. She jumped up with excitement, "I knew it! You talked about her way too much to not have a crush on her!"

"I take it that you're okay with me dating Lauren? Of course you have no say in the matter, it's just nice to know."

"I like her, she's nice and pretty. But my friend Norah said that girls can't be with girls just like boys can't be with boys. Mama's brother told me the same thing" Of course there's almost always a figure in everybody's life that is homophobic, unfortunately that's a part of modern society. I grew up with it but finally learned to trust myself instead of others. "Some people believe that, yeah. I think that it doesn't matter as long as the people are happy with each other and themselves as an individual. Everybody's opinion is valid, but some people try to force their own on others, which is not the right thing to do." I try to explain to her. "I understand. Are you and Lauren happy?"

"I've never been happier." I reply with enthusiasm. I have never felt so content before I met my girlfriend.

"Then I'm okay with you two dating." I had no idea how great it felt to have her approval. Growing up in an environment that disapproved of anything other than a hetero relationship had been difficult and led me to push away who I really was until I was finally able to leave. Living a lie like that definitely takes a toll on your happiness and view of your self-worth.

The front door opened and I am immediately blessed with the image of my girlfriend with a giant smile on her face as she laughs at something one of the other girls said.

Again, I just wanted to post something before I went to bed. Somebody recently suggested that I write this story in spanish as well. Is that something I should do? Obviously if you got this far in the story, you're probably not going to care too much, but opinions on the matter are nice for me to know. As I've said before, my spanish is rather rusty, so I'd probably need to have somebody else look over it and help make sure it makes sense. Maybe I could translate it after the story is complete. I don't know, I'm just throwing out some ideas.

Is there anything else you'd like to suggest?
