"Rise as Her Majesty Queen Alessandra the Fifth of Aldovia. God Save the Queen!"

"GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!"

The four hundred government officials, aristocracy, international royals and a few citizens crammed into the Marvat Cathedral thundered the affirmation as Lexi rose from the throne on which she sat and marched with her head held high towards the cathedral entrance.

She was in a beautiful ball gown

She vaguely acknowledged the people lucky enough to be in the aisle seats who bowed or curtseyed to her as she went past. She knew Althea would be behind her, along with the Archbishop who had blessed and crowned her and her grandfather but in this; she was once again alone.

The walk seemed endless, felt like miles rather than a few metres until a bishop relieved her of the orb and sceptre, which could not leave the cathedral; and footmen helped her graciously into the open top carriage that would take her through the city. Althea, the Archbishop and her grandfather were with her as the six white horses pulled away from the cathedral and into the city. Lexi put her princess smile on and waved to the adoring crowd as they applauded and screamed her name as she went by. She turned, this way and that; mindful of the cameras both professional and unprofessional that were pointed at her. Cameras that were waiting to see her mask drop, to see a clinch in her armour; to see any implication that she was crumbling inside.
