Chapter Nine: Starting Over

"Paul..."

I said, my heart racing at a million beats per second.

"I think, I think we should talk... Tonight?" He said, sounding just as worried as I was feeling.

"Umm, okay.. That's a good idea." I said, shaking.

"I'll see you at your place, 7:30?" He asked.

"See you then..." And I hung up.

"What did he say?!?" Candice said, practically jumping on top of me.

"He wants to meet tonight... To talk." I said, worried again.

"It's nothing bad Nina, I'm sure." Claire said as she sat down on the other side of me.

"Okay... I have to go girls... I need to prepare."

"See you tomorrow... Good luck tonight!" Candice said smiling and giving me a sweet hug.

"Bye." I said smiling at the both of them as I walked out the door and towards my car.

When 7:00 hit, my heart was racing almost as hard as it was when he called me. I heard the doorbell ring and the butterflies flew straight from my stomach into my throat.

As I opened the door, I saw his handsome face smiling up at me.

"Hi." He said happily.

"Hi..." I said as he walked in and I shut the door behind him.

"Paul..."

As I turned around he was there, less than two inches away from my face.

I backed into the door.

"I'm sorry... I ran... Out... On you." I said breathlessly.

"It's okay. But Nina?" He asked into my mouth, our lips seconds from touching.

"Yes Paul?" I asked as I looked from his lips up to his eyes.

"Please let me kiss you."

As he said this I cupped his face and pulled his lips onto mine.

It was like a thousand butterflies were let loose my stomach, I could hardly focus.

Our breathing got heaver as the kiss got deeper and stronger.

He slowly pulled away, his hands on my face;

"Let's start over, pretend it never happened, pretend that we're just two people who are dating, who just kissed for the first time." He said smiling as he kissed my lips again.

"I had a great time." I said playing along with what he said.

"Me too. Now let's cuddle on the couch and watch your favorite movie." He said smiling into my lips.

"Let's." I said kissing him slowly and pulling him towards my couch.
