THE BELL FOR LUNCH RANG AND IT WAS MUSIC to my ears. It had been hard to concentrate when Bianca's question was still floating around in my head. I'd told her I needed time to think about it because honestly I did. I mean it should have been easy since I've liked her for such a long time but we'd had so many complications in the past and so I didn't know if I wanted to get involved with her again. 

Another distraction had been Charlotte and this Jordan guy. She'd been around him for the whole day so far. After she'd shown him the science labs and we met up in Puerto Rican history class, she'd sat up front with him instead of sitting besides me like she usually did -- which was slightly irritating since we still hadn't had the chance to talk properly yet.

We didn't have any classes together until later either so I was hoping to bump into her at lunch.

I walked into the cafeteria and spotted Charlotte standing in the line for food. Luckily, this time she was alone and that Jordan guy was nowhere to be seen. Finally.

I quickly jogged over and slipped in behind her, tapping her shoulder to get her attention. "Hey Char!" I greeted.

She turned and smiled at me. "Hey Hen, what goes on?"

"You know how it is, first day things and whatnot." she nodded as she moved up in line and grabbed a tray and I copied her actions, grabbing a tray for myself. "So um...where's Jackson?" I asked, not really all that curious.

Charlotte rose her brow. "His name's Jordan and he had to go to the secretary's office to sort some things out." she said smiling lightly.

"Great." I said quickly, not really caring.

"So are you still able to come to mine after school today? I thought we could chill, catch up, play some video games and then walk to work together." I said hopefully as we moved up in line and yes, there was pizza for lunch today!

Charlotte's face scrunched up apologetically as she looked at me. "Sorry Henry I can't." she said.

"Why not?" I asked confusedly.

"I promised Jordan I'd show him around Swellview. He's only been here a couple days and hasn't seen much so I volunteered to show him around." she explained, a guilty expression on her face.

"But what about work? What am I going to tell Ray and Schwoz?" I asked.

Charlotte smirked at me. "Come on Henry, you're a smart boy, make something up for me please?" she suggested and I thought for a moment and she moved closer, poking my stomach teasingly. "I'll owe you one Hen, pleaseee." she said giving me the puppy eyes she knew I couldn't resist.

Dang it Charlotte!

"Alright alright fine! Stop with the eyes! I'll make something up okay." I said, giving in.

She smiled, hugging me quickly. "Thanks Henry! See you later."

My eyes widened. "Wait Char, where are you going now?"

"Jordan's got some cool science ideas he wants to show me so I'm eating lunch with him. Bye!" she explained quickly before she rushed off, leaving me standing there.

"Hey kid, if you've got your pizza get out of the line!" The lunch lady yelled at me and I threw her a quick 'sorry' before I headed towards where Jasper was sitting with Sidney and Oliver.

"Hey guys." I greeted, setting my tray down on the table.

"Hey Hen, how goes it?" Jasper asked, taking a bite out of his pizza.
