~ (Y/n)'s POV ~

"Where are you going?" Stefan asked me as I walk down the stairs of the Salvatore boarding house with your suitcase in hand.

"I'm leaving."

"Why?" He asked getting up off the sofa.

"You know why Stefan." I replied walking over to him.

"Damon." Stefan said knowingly.

"I was foolish to think I might actually have a chance with him. I thought once he found out that Kathrine wasn't in the tomb, that she had left him, that he meant nothing to her... But now he has feelings for Elena and Katherine is back. I can't compete with them." I explain.

"But if you stay then isn't it more likely that he could see you in the same way." Stefan tried to persuade me to stay.

"Stefan, I need to leave and try to move on, I have wasted so much time on him already, I'm almost as bad as Damon searching for Katherine." I laugh at myself.

"Will you see him before you leave?"

"I haven't decided yet. I don't really want to see him but I think I should say good bye." I reply still unsure.

"Take care (Y/n)."

"You too Stefan. And look out for him for me."

"Of course." And with that I gave Stefan a hug before putting my suitcase in my car and I drive into town. First, I stop by the school and see Alaric, despite everything with his wife and Damon, we have actually become good friends. We agree to keep in touch so I head out to the Grill for a drink before I hit the road. Dreading but also hoping that Damon would be there.

As I walk in I notice Bonnie, Caroline and Elena sat round a table, Matt working behind the bar and Damon sat at the bar. I walk up and sit next to him and order a bourbon.

"What are you doing here?" Damon asked me.

"Just having a drink before I hit the road." Damon looked at me, a little shocked but he hid it well.

"You going somewhere?"

"Yeah away from here."

"I thought you liked it here."

"I do like it here but I can't stay here forever Damon."

"Why not?" Damon asks and I struggle with how to answer him. I don't want to lie to him but I also don't want to tell him the truth.

"I... I need to move on with my life and I can't do that if I am here. I need to do this by myself." I finally replied and Damon just stares at me for a while as if trying to figure me out. I sip my drink as I wait for his reaction.

"We have a shot at killing Katherine and it's an all hands-on deck situation so, why don't you stay and then once she is dead you can go." Damon tried to persuade me to stay a little longer.

"Ok I will stay to kill Katherine but after that I am gone."

It was the next day at the Masquerade Ball that we were going to trick and kill Katherine and I couldn't wait. I hated the bitch for what she did to Stefan and Damon. She will most likely have some type of hold on them for the rest of their existence and I hated that.
