"hallo!" Midori said and smiled widely at me.
i stepped aside for her to come inside and
gestured towards the living room to where she could sit.
"um, i brought sake." she held out the bottle to me.
"uh, thanks."
"it was my aunt's idea!" Midori blurted out and seemed embarrassed.
i just laughed and took it to the kitchen.
"Otousan, Midori is here."
i returned to the living room with him by my side;
wearing his old apron
with the cats on it.
"sorry, but he doesn't speak much english,"
i explained to Midori.
she nodded and stretched out a hand for him to shake
at which he just looked.
"oh, sorry," Midori smiled nervously and proceeded to bow
while muttering "yoroshiku onegaishimasu*" multiple times in hopes of rectifying her mistake.
my father just chuckled and bowed in return
then continued back to the kitchen to finish his cooking.
Midori looked at me in panic
and i couldn't help but laugh at her antics.
"he doesn't bite, you know."
"i know..."
[ *yoroshiku onegaishimasu: nice to meet you, pleased to meet you, please take care of me, etc ]
