in; one two three
out; one two
in; one two three
out; one two.
i counted my breaths to distract myself from the burning sensation growing inside my chest.
just around that corner, then the park and home again.
i pushed on, forcing my legs to move faster, further
i felt the energy surging out of me with every step
taking with it my
anger
pain
guilt.
in; one two three
out; one two
in; one-
out; one-in; one two three...
my calves were growing tired but i carried onnot caring that i was sweating through my shirt and my hair
dripping down my forehead
cheeks
neck.
i was too hot to care anymore.
until i ran straight into the sea itself.
