When I rolled out of my bed in the morning, my attention was immediately snagged by the object on my dresser. I gently picked it up and pulled it towards me and began to unwrap it. First, there was a deep, dark blue velvet bag that almost looked black. I pulled the gift out of the bag and there was another part that I had to unwrap. I unwrapped the large square of midnight blue velvet and gasped in amazement at what it revealed. It was a green faberge egg with crisscrossing gold lines that were inlaid with diamond.
How in the world did he get something like this? I quickly ran over to the door, while trying to be quiet. I shut and locked the door, then I returned to the bed and stared at the gift. Slowly, I reached out my trembling hand and picked up the egg again. After a moment of staring, I gently opened up the egg and gasped. There was a miniature painting of me inside, a note, and a tiny silver key.
