Chapter 12: Get-To-Know Game

"We've been driving for three hours, where are we going?" asked Taylor.

Kayla was asleep on my shoulder on my right with Alice on my left.

"I heard there's an abandoned carnival a couple of hours from here." said Reneé.

"And what exactlt are we planning to do there?" said Taylor.

"I don't know, maybe get some rest? Find stuff?" said Yen.

"You think there's going to be food and clothes at an abadoned carnival? Really?" said Will rubbing his eyes.

"At least it's something, Will. If you're hungry we still have a lot of food at the boot." said John out of the blue.

"Oh look, you speak. Why have you been so quiet huh?" asked Taylor.

"It's nothing." John sighed.

"Hey! Leave him alone." said Yen.

"Why?" asked Will.

I sat there in silence, watching the whole thing happen.

"What exactly happened to you guys?" asked Taylor.

"Look, we'll explain later. Why not you guys get some rest okay?" said Reneé running her hands through her short hair.

Will looks behind at me.

"You okay there Zach?" asked Will.

"Yeah I'm alright."

"If you need anythin-"

"Ask me." Will got cut off by Taylor.

Will stared at Taylor for a second at sighed.

"Whatever, if you need anything ask her." Will pointed at Taylor and leaned on the car window shutting his eyes.

"Get some sleep Zachy-bear you'll need it."

Ugh.

"Mhm." I sighed.

Kayla was comfortably sleeping on my shoulder.

Minutes later, Taylor, John and Will fell asleep. Leaving me, Yen and Reneé alone.

I shut my eyes closed so they won't think I'm awake.

"Are they all asleep?" asked Reneé.

Yen used the rear mirror to check if everyone's asleep.

"Yeah."

Reneé sighed.
"When are we gonna tell them Yen?"

Tell them what?

"Not now."

I wanted to ask a bunch of questions.

But I chose to stay quiet.

"Do you realise Ally is not here?" said Yen.

"Fuck. You don't think..." Reneé couldn't continue.

Yen sighed.
"We should have never left the house." Yen scratched his head.

Kayla accidentally placed her hand on my knee.

Shit.
I had to move her, I felt too uncomfortable.

I slowly opened my eyes and took her hand and moved it.

"Ow." said Kayla in her sleep.

Which caught Yen and Reneé's attention.
I quickly shut my eyes and lean back hoping they didn't see.
