Scott timidly followed Mitch inside the doctor's office, holding himself tightly. There were a lot of Alphas waiting for their sick Omegas in the lobby, and Scott's heartbeat picked up at the sight of them. He could feel their gazes burning into his back, so he moved closer to Mitch with a small whimper and slipped his hand into the Alpha's for comfort. Mitch glanced back at him and smiled slightly, squeezing his hand reassuringly.

"Hi. We don't have an appointment, but, uh, th-this Omega is pregnant and he's worried his baby is dead," Mitch spoke to the Beta at the front desk, and Scott timidly peeked out at her from behind Mitch. The Beta frowned slightly and nodded, typing into her computer. "Why would the baby have died?" Mitch could tell Scott wasn't going to answer, so he did it for him. "He was raped and impregnated, but his Alpha didn't want a baby so he tried to beat it out of him." The Beta looked up at them in alarm, and she frowned more when she saw Mitch, her eyes narrowing. "Are you his Alpha, sir?" she asked, no warmth in her voice. Mitch shook his head instantly. "No, no. I'm not his Alpha. He ran away from him and I found him on the street." The Beta relaxed and nodded a bit, forcing a smile back onto her lips. "Alright. We can fit you in right now if you'd like." Mitch glanced back at Scott to make sure he was still there, but he nodded and smiled back. "Yes, that's perfect. Thank you."

The Beta stood and maneuvered herself out from behind the desk. "Now, since you're not his Alpha, you're not allowed to come back," she said apologetically, but Mitch just nodded again and let go of Scott's hand. "That's fine," he said with a smile. However, Scott whimpered and took Mitch's hand again, his eyes threatening to glow blue. Mitch's smile dropped instantly and he frowned up at Scott. "Scotty, honey, I can't go back with you," he murmured gently, but Scott shook his head frantically and glanced around at the other Alphas fearfully. Mitch sighed, turning his gaze back to the Beta. "I'm so sorry," he apologized. The Beta shook her head and held up her hands to show them to take their time. Mitch looked up at Scott again, trying to gently pry his fingers off of his hand. "Darling, I'm not your Alpha. I'm not allowed to go back with you. You have to let go." Scott whimpered again, quieter that time, his eyes turning Omega blue. Mitch softened, and he laced their fingers together as he looked back to the Beta. "He's terrified to be without me, ma'am, I'm sorry, could I please come back with you?"

The Beta hesitated, but she nodded. "Alright. Fine. You can come back." Scott relaxed and held Mitch's hand tightly as they followed the Beta back into the heart of the office.

The Beta had Scott settle down on the paper-covered platform, offering him a reassuring smile. Mitch sat down near him so he wouldn't be scared, just in case the doctor was an Alpha. "The doctor will be with you in a few moments," the Beta said, then nodded respectfully and left the room. Scott relaxed as soon as she was gone, curling up on the bed. "Do you think it's still alive, sir?" he whispered to Mitch, his voice shaking with nerves. If he was being honest, Mitch didn't think so, but he hadn't been with Scott and his former Alpha when he was being abused. "I'm sure it's fine, honey," he murmured instead, kissing his forehead.

The doctor came in then, and luckily she was a female Beta. "Hello. My name is Doctor Foster, and I'll be taking care of you today. May I ask your names?" she said as she pulled on a pair of gloves. "My name is Mitch, and the Omega is Scott," Mitch answered for the both of them, knowing Scott probably didn't want to talk. Doctor Foster smiled and nodded, coming over to Scott. The Omega tensed and instinctively pushed himself away from her, but he told himself that Mitch wouldn't let anyone hurt him and forced himself to relax. Doctor Foster held up her hands to show she wouldn't hurt the poor boy, a gentle smile still on her lips. "It's okay. I won't hurt you. Can you roll up your shirt for me? Just so I can see your stomach." Scott hesitated, glancing at Mitch, but slowly obeyed.
