“Oh my god, it’s Danisnotonfire!” A raging girl screams, ten minutes into our trip.

“Are you sure?” Her friend replies loudly.

“I am!” The first girl yells, running towards Dan. “Hi!” She giggles.

“Hey! It’s great to meet you.” He says calmly, throwing his arms open for a hug. She squeals and lunges for him.

“I know it’s a lot to ask, but please can I have a photo?”

“Of course! Does your friend want to be in the photo too?” Her friend nods and scurries over. “Y/N, would you mind taking the photo?”

“Course not!” I say, smiling sweetly and taking the girls phone. Everyone smiles and the girls thank Dan before claiming their phone and running off screaming. “That was so cute…They’re the kind of people I like, they’re polite and care about you.” Dan takes my hand.

“Thank you,” He looks at me and my heart melts. “I know it can be hard seeing other girls with me.” He says with a wink.

“Pfft, yeah sure.” I lean into his shoulder and he kisses me gently.

“Come on, let’s find you a pillow.”

It’s about fourteen dan-girls, twenty photos and six autographs before we get to a pillow shop (also known as Tesco…).

“Okay- let’s each take a trolley. The first to find…” I refer to my notes. “A neon green pillow, a box of cereal and a pair of shoes wins!” Dan nods and accepts the challenge.

“I’ll see you on the other side, Y/L/N.”

“And you, Howell. Good luck.” And I dart off down an aisle before being told to slow down by a store manager. I’ve found the pair of shoes and a box of cereal but a green pillow is nowhere to be found. “Excuse me, do you know where I can find a green pillow?” I ask a member of staff hovering over a shelf.

“Of course! This way.” She says, directing me to the bedding aisle. “Have a good day.” This is possibly the biggest, most cluttered aisle in the whole store. I skim the shelves, looking for the pillow. My eyes reach the end of the aisle, and I see Dan- staring dramatically at me.

“Found what you’re looking for yet?” I taunt.

“Yeah, I have.” He runs towards me at full throttle and stops suddenly to grab a pillow from the highest shelf. “There are advantages to being tall, you know.” I feel disappointed that I lost, but now he has to pay.

“You’re right, such as being able to reach your wallet.” I say with a smile. “Do you want me to grab anything else?”

“Not at the-“ He’s interrupted by a girl running up to him. The process continues and I end up taking a photo for her.

“Dan, who’s this?” She feels the need to ask. Why can’t you just let me live my little unnoticed life?

“This is Y/N. We’ll be making a video soon, right?” I nod. She squeals and jumps around.

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone! It was great meeting you both!” She wraps herself around me before running off. I feel startled, but loved nonetheless.

“A video then, eh?”

“You bet. I’m thinking we should tell the world about us.” I’m shocked, but again feel loved. Dan loves me that much that he’s willing to tell everyone that we’re a thing….

“Dan, I don’t think I can do it.” I sigh.

“Come on, let’s pay for your shoes and I’ll convince you on the way home.”

A while later, we’ve taken a detour down a back alley to get to a park in central London. I’m overly nervous.

“So, um…This video?”

“Oh yeah, I honestly think we should tell everyone about us.”

“Shouldn’t we start by telling Phil? Maybe we could make a normal video first, then everyone can ship us or whatever…” He stops my rambling with a perfect kiss.

“If that’s what you want.” He smiles and puts his arm around me. “Let’s sit down.” We meander over to a tree and sit down together.

“I’m afraid what they’ll think of me.”

“That girl loved you, why won’t the rest of the world?” He’s right. If one person loves me, why can’t everyone else?

“I guess you’re right, but I don’t want you to feel like I’m using you…” I continue, trying everything in my power to get out of this video.

“Y/N,” He says, taking my hands. “I would never feel like that. I offered, didn’t I? And the last thing I’d want is you leaving for real.”
