He waited for the right moment and attacked a guard and fed on its blood and eat it , the other dreamons saw it on the camera and became cautious of him. Because they heard about his species being a plant and meat eaters along with being adaptable to environments but seeing it was a different story. They became very terrified and fascinated of him because of how he killed off a guard so easily and proving why they are called deathworlders and then they decided to make a plan for him to feed off of some of the aliens they capture and if they become a problem then they become food for Tommy.
