“I think I should leave you guys for a bit.” Phil says, stroking my head and heading towards his own door. I feel Dan looking at me, but I don’t want to look up.

“I’m sorry.” He eventually says, breaking the silence.

“Why should you be? I’m moving out tomorrow, it was nice meeting you.” It’s overdramatic, I know but aside from falling out with him, there’s no quick work in London.

“Okay then. I suppose you haven’t told Phil?” I shake my head. “See you later.” He follows in Phil’s footsteps towards the door and sneaks away. Still without keys, I continue to sit and cry for no apparent reason anymore. I don’t want to leave, but the apartment isn’t at all cheap. Dan mentioned something about youtube before, but I can’t afford a camera. I don’t want to leave Phil- my best friend, or Dan – the man I love.

I sit for about 15 minutes in the quiet until a slamming of a door breaks my serenity.

“You forgot your keys.” Dan says roughly, hurling them at me. I can’t help it, I leap up and throw myself at him. Without resistance, or emotion, he acknowledges me and half-heartedly wraps his arms around me. “What’s this whole thing about, Y/N? This fighting, the running off, talking to Phil so much- am I missing something?” I look down and pull away from him. “What is it?”

“I love you.” Shock registers on his face.

“You what?” I take my keys and walk to my apartment.

“I love you. That’s it, Dan. There’s nothing else to it.” I say, back turned to him. “But regardless of what Phil says, you don’t like me. You’ve got the world to choose from, just pick someone worth your time.” What happens next is all so sudden, he grabs my hips, twists me around and grips my face. Like something out of a movie, he kisses me. I’m the lost princess and he’s my prince. I didn’t love him before. I lust for him. That’s different now. This one moment has changed it all. I love him. The perfect moment doesn’t seem to end until the old shopping lady paces up the stairs. Dan coughs.

“Hey, Miss Abbot…”

“Hello, Daniel. Who’s this pretty girl? Don’t tell me you’ve finally got a girlfriend?” He blushes and puts his arm around me.

“Yep, I think so.”

“What’s your name, sweetie?” She says, turning to me.

“I’m Y/N. It’s really nice to meet you.” I say smiling.

“And you.” She returns her view back to Dan. “Be good to this one, Daniel. She’s worth it.” She winks at me and slowly meanders away.

“You heard her, Daniel. Be good to this one.” I say, leaning into Dan.

“I promise, because you’re worth it.”
