Twenty Fifth

The following weekend James was not able to meet Dani as he went for an out of town work.  But he made sure that Dani will be safe traveling to Bulacan, he asked Eric to bring her there and eventually fetch her on Sunday.  This is what James usually does whenever he’s tied up at work aside from the everyday deliveries of flowers to Dani’s office and sometimes in her condo and in Bulacan. 

“Hay naku, ang ligaya na naman ng mga babaeng ngayon.  Aba, hindi pa nga nalalanta yung bulaklak kahapon meron na naman ngayon.” Matthew said as he sees Dani receiving a new bouquet of flowers.

“Eh kesa naman, itapon ko eh di ibahagi ko na lang yung iba” Dani replied

“Iba ka talaga beshie, saludo na talaga ako sa alindog mo, imagine nakasungkit ka ng isang sought after male celebrity of the country.  How to be you po?”Matthew teases

“Tigilan mo nga ako Mateo” Dani said smiling.

“Kelan mo ba balak sagutin yang si James, ang tagal na ring nanliligaw nyan sa yo ah” Matthew said. “Sige ka, baka maagaw pa yan ng iba.  Seriously, what’s stopping you from accepting him”

“Nakakatakot eh.  Alam mo naman ako, hindi ako risk taker, kaya nga si Miguel ang pinili ko dati di ba, But look at what happened to us.  Si Miguel simpleng tao lang compare mo kay James.  I have invested so much love and time for Miguel pero hindi pa rin maganda ang kinalabasan ng relationship namin.  How would I be sure na yung kay James would be different.  Ang hirap beshie” dani confesses

“Isa lang naman ang tanong dyan eh, Mahal mo na ba si James?” Matthew asked

“Hindi ako sigurado.  Yes oftentimes I miss him.  It always gave me a different feeling pag nakakausap ko pero ang hirap sabihin na mahal ko na nga” Dani honestly said

“O sige, I will rephrase the question. Do you like James?” Matthew asked

“Of course, he is a good person.  He is also very respectful.  May sayad na lang sa utak ang hindi magkakagusto sa kanya” Dani said

“So may gusto ka sa kanya” Matthew asked.  “Yes, I like him” Dani declared

“Then why don’t you start from there” Matthew said “Beshie, James is different from Miguel.  Ok, you invested so much for Miguel, your love, your time and almost your career.  But you have to admit, hindi nya hiningi yun sa yo, ikaw ang kusang nagbigay. I’m sure you’ve learned your lessons well, so why not use it now with James.  Invest gradually, that’s what we use to advise to our conservative clients.  Kasi that’s how to grow eh, you have to take some risk” Matthew explained.

“What if it fails” Dani expresses her anxiety.  “Then, try again.  At least you were not able to invest everything, meron pang matitira sa yo. Remember Beshie, kung baga sa stock market, blue chips stocks si James Esteban, slowly but surely ang earnings ng capital mo” Matthew said which made Dani smile.

“Ewan ko, I could not think straight. Bahala na!” Dani stated. 

“So sasagutin mo na?” Matthew asked. “We’ll see” Dani replied which made Matthew silently scream.

“Hoy, para kang sira, sabi ko ‘we’ll see’. Hindi ko sinabing Oo” Dani said

“Excuse me, you are my friend and I know the meaning of every single word you say. The last time you said ‘We’ll see’ was when I asked you to recommend me to be your assistant, yun pala in process na yung promotion ko.  Meron pa, yung trip natin sa Bangkok, yan din ang sinagot mo sa akin, pero what happen? Mas marami ka pang nabili kesa sa akin” Matthew said and Dani just smiles.

“But, this is different” Dani said. 

“Pareho din yun” Matthew exclaimed “Excited na ako beshie na maging girlfriend ka James Esteban” Matthew said giggling.

“Sus, baka nga parusa pa yan pag nagkataon.  Public figure si James, selosa ang mga fans nun.  Ayokong mabash. Ayoko talaga, mahirap na” Dani said

“Hoy, ikaw ang parang sira.  Kanina 90 percent nang sasagutin mo si James, anyare?  Bakit biglang nagdown ang market wala pang five minutes?” James asked

“Scary nga di ba” Dani explained

“Take the risk nga di ba.  Paulit-ulit naman tayo beshie” Matthew answered irritably when someone knocks at the door of Dani’s room.

Dani already knows who her surprise visitor is based on the chaos she sees outside her glass wall. 

“Oh sige na, may bisita ka, asikasuhin mo muna yang special client mo”Matthew said teasing and opened the door for James. “Good afternoon sir James, ay good evening na pala” Matthew formally greeted James.

“Good evening Matthew, how are you?” James also formally replied

“I’m fine sir, thank you for asking.  Come in po” Matthew invited James in

“Am I disturning you guys?” James asked while he enters Dani’s room “I’m sorry for dropping in without notice” James said and greeted Dani via cheek to cheek “Hi Dani” he said   

“Tamang tama ang dating mo sir, kakatapos lang po ang meeting namin ni Ms. Dani regarding risk taking.  Ok na sir she is all yours” Matthew continued teasing then leaves the room.

“What are you doing here? You are supposed to be resting, anong oras ka dumating from Iloilo” Dani said with eyes gleaming

“Two hours ago, dumaan ako sa studio for a meeting para dun sa bagong movie, then dumiretso na ako dito” James explained.  “Do you have plans after your work?” he asked

“Wala naman, mag movie marathon lang sana ako, pampatanggal ng stress” Dani replied

“Would you like to have dinner with me?” James asked.  “Where?” Dani asked in return.

“Somewhere near here tapos tambay ako sa unit mo.  Namiss ko na La-Z-boy mo eh” James said

“Why don’t you just go home so you could properly rest” Dani protested

“Exactly, you are my home Daniella” James stated “I miss home, I miss you” he added looking straight in Dani’s eyes.

“Mag drive thru na lang tayo along the way.  Mahirap nang makita tayo ng mga fans mo.  Convoy na lang, dala ko kasi kotse ko” Dani said in surrender

“Ako hindi, I just asked Kuya Eric to drop me off here, then tawagan ko na lang sya mamaya kung susunduin na nya ako sa place mo” James said “Ako na lang mag drive pauwi natin”

“Pauwi natin? At home na at home ka talaga eh” Dani said “I’ll drive, para makapagpahinga ka”

“Ang sweet mo naman, kaya in love and in love ako sa yo eh” James declared

“Tumigil ka, itulog mo yan at pagod ka lang” Dani exclaimed that makes James smile.
