Excited or nah?

Everything went dark for a few seconds, then Jesse and Petra were able to see. Except...who was actually seeing?

Jesse's POV
I opened my eyes and blinked a few times.

I was still standing but where's Petra?
Also...everyone was staring as if I had branches growing out of my head.

Some were gaping while others gasped. Wide eyed and frightened were some expressions I saw.

I looked at my arms.
They looked a little paler.
I touched my face and it felt the same.
But when I touched my hair, I looked at the color and- OH MY GOSH!

Petra's POV
I raised my arms to look at them.
Pale.
I touched my face and it felt different.
A little softer.
The thing was that when I reached for my hair it wasn't short.

It was shorter!
Same color, orange but it was messy boy hair!
I panicked a little and looked around for Jesse. But nobody came.

(In Jesse's case, he was looking for Petra. Remember that they don't have four arms or four eyes. They see things the same way and can move the same way without trouble. Carry on.)

I laughed nervously at all the shocked faces.
What frightened me the most was when a figure rushed out of the crowd and towards me.

Jesse's POV
He pointed at me, his finger so close I could almost bite it.
I furrowed my eyebrows in annoyance.

"This is abnormal! The wither is still within them and we must kill it! NOW!"

The man was handed a pitchfork and the once happy village turned into a savage, hateful one.

Torches were lit simultaneously around the crowd as they each moved in closer. Their pointed weapons almost touching my thighs and arms.

Wait a minute.
Thighs?

I have shorts on!

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my friends yell RUN!

Without a second thought, I jumped up high and without noticing that I was almost touching the clouds.

Well not literally but I was able to see the villagers still in their rampage.

I focus my gravity somewhere else and landed in the forest, far away.

Petra's POV
I landed with ease and glanced around.
I closed my eyes and stared at the sky. I sighed in relief and noticed the moon was out.
A nice glowing crescent moon.

I placed my arms on my hips and stretched backwards.

"I'm glad that's over."

....
...
...

My voice sounds deeper!!
What the heck?

I looked down at my clothing...
I had on red suspenders with a white short sleeved shirt and my shorts plus my boots.

I really need to find Jesse. I'm trying hard to keep calm since all these strange things are happening and I have no idea what's going on.

I glanced around for anything I can see my reflection on.
And of course a lake is what I found.

There I was.
My panicked expression after finding out I look more like male than female.
My hair was either a dark orange or brown.
I was probably seeing colors a while ago.

Jesse's POV
I looked at my reflection and my panicked expression was what I saw.
But in my mind I might have thought not bad.

Suddenly I hear rustling behind me.
I quickly stand up and put up my fighting stance.

The first thing that came out was...

That girl with the short hair!
She looked harmless but when she approached me, my realization finally clicked.

I gaped at her.

"It's not polite to stare." She chuckled a bit.
"Sorry." Geez. I have to get used to this voice.

"I'm glad you're ok. I was worried if you'd land or not."

"Jess! You're back." I walked to go hug her.

She had to tip toe to be able to reach me. After we parted she took off her wig.

"Oookay. I wasn't expecting that." I said.
"Sorry. I just wore it today. The only person who knew was Lukas."

So that's why it seemed like he was looking for someone.

"What you did today was an incredible skill. The ability to fuse!" She grinned.

"Say what now?"

"Fusion. When two or more human fuse to make one. You were able to sync perfectly together. But don't panic."

Jess' POV
And just like that, their body started glowing and they split apart.

I walked over to help them but they were just laughing.

"That was awesome!" Petra fell back onto the grass.

"I never knew that was possible. It was a whole new experience!" Jesse sat up.

These kids.
Always finding adventures.

Then...I heard groans. I looked around and of course. "Zombies."

Jesse and Petra looked at each other with the same determination in their eyes. They stood up and grabbed hands.

"Let's go!"
