"Next up is Peeta Mellark,"  Mr. Flickerman says. We are at our senior year talent competition. Peeta kisses my cheek, then goes to sit on a stool on the stage.

"I will be singing Cry On My Shoulder by Overflow," he clears his throat and the music starts.

You say you're falling apart, reached the end of the line

Just looking for your place in an ordinary life

No one calls you friend and no one even knows your name

You just want to feel loved instead of all the pain

You no longer have to say, No one's listening anyway

Come here and cry on my shoulder

I'll hold you till it's over, I'll rescue you tonight

Let my arms be your shelter, you're hiding place forever

I'll love you more than life

You're wearing a frown, given up on hope

My heart is reaching out, more than you will ever know

Is your burden too much? Is it more than you can bare?

I'll help carry the load if you're willing to share

You no longer have to say, No one's listening anyway

Come here and cry on my shoulder

I'll hold you till it's over, I'll rescue you tonight

Let my arms be your shelter, you're hiding place forever

I'll love you more than life

You have had some hard times and thorns placed in your side

I know about what you've been going through

The tears of pain are falling down, it hurts so bad, you're crying out

The problems won't last forever, let me put you back together

Come here and cry on my shoulder

I'll hold you till it's over, I'll rescue you tonight

Let my arms be your shelter, you're hiding place forever

I'll love you

Come here and cry on my shoulder

I'll hold you till it's over, I'll rescue you tonight

Let my arms be your shelter, you're hiding place forever

I'll love you more than life, I'll love you more than life

The songs ends and the crowd erupts in applause. Peeta sang that for me. I lost my father last month, and he knows I have been going through a hard time. Tears are welled up in my eyes. I stand to go find Peeta backstage, and when I walk in the room, I stop dead in my tracks. I cannot believe what I am seeing. Peeta is kissing Delly Cartwright. Tears flow in a steady stream down my face now, and I just turn and run. Moments later, I hear Peeta yelling after me.

"Katniss no! Wait! It's not what you think! Wait, Katniss!" he yells, but I pay him no attention. Instead I just keep running until I find myself in a dark alley.

Suddenly, something knocks me off my feet. Then, I feel someone kicking my stomach, as I cry out in pain. The person kneels down, grabs my head, and slams it into the rock hard earth. All I can think of now is, I'm going to die, and then I black out.
