I knew you were gonna be there

Chapter 46

We arrived at the area that the cell phone picked up the location and we could see a log cabin with smoke coming from the chimney and the same black Ford parked outside.
"Mr Bryan please stay in the car we will handle this, we don't know if he is armed or what the situation is" Officer Boyce said
"Ok but please do get my girl" I pleaded
"Will do sir"
I sat and watched as they approached the building. And within a matter of minutes they had busted open the door, I heard a single gunshot and my heart sunk, I opened the door and ran as fast as I could.  I reached the doorway and I saw Dwayne lying face down in a pool of blood, he had a rifle lying next to him. I didn't see Caroline but I heard her screaming help from the basement. The cabin was really nicely decorated but the odd thing was it has pictures of Caroline and I everywhere, intimate photos, he must have been watching us all along.
I ran towards the screams and I found her, she was tied to a chair but she didn't have a single mark on her, she needed a good clean up but that was all
"Baby" I said running to her and untying the rope
"Oh Luke I never thought I would see you again" she said crying
"Baby I would never let that happen I love you baby, to the moon and back" I said hugging and kissing her.
The officer came in
"Mr and Mrs Bryan we have secured the assailant, he unfortunately didn't make it and was killed upon entry, you are safe. We now need you to get to the hospital and get checked over make sure you are all ok" he said
"Come on baby let's get you checked out then we can go home and get a bath and you can see your boy he has missed you so much, just like his daddy" I said lifting her up bridal style and carrying her to the police car.
"I can't wait to see him and I can wait to be with you baby, I love you"
