I knew you were gonna be there

Chapter 5

My heart sunk when Caroline ran I knew she was hurt, but I thought after 5 years she would be ok. I saw her friend Sadie coming down, I remember her from the store. She came up to me and said
"Hi Luke Caroline said I was to tell you to meet her at your spot"
I knew exactly where she meant, we spent many a time under that Magnolia tree, having picnics and relaxing. That's where we shared our first kiss. So hopefully this is a good sign.
I made my way out back and headed towards the tree. I saw her standing there in all her beauty.
"Hi Caroline, Sadie said you wanted to talk. I'm sorry if I scared you away with what I said but it's the truth" I said smiling
"Hi Luke it's ok, I was just over whelmed is all. We have a lot to talk about"
I sat down next to her on the grass.
"Yeah we do, and if I have to spend the rest of my life apologising for what I did then I will. I love you Caroline always have and always will"
She was staring at the floor,
"Luke I want us to be friends I really do, that night when I saw you and them at skank kissing it was like a knife to the heart" she said with tears starting to fall.
"Caroline, I was so drunk I didn't know what I was doing. She came on to me. I know that's no excuse but I would never willingly hurt you"
She turned and looked at me
"Luke I am willing to try the friendship thing I really am and if anything changes between us I am open to that. But right now I think we should get to know one another as friends again"
I pulled her close so her head was in my shoulder
"Caroline I would love to be friends with you"
