21. Michael

Rose woke up next to Scorpius. She almost forgot that they were in the hospital.
"Scor," Rose whispered.
Scorpius stirred, but didn't wake up.
"Scorpius," Rose whispered.
His face twitched.
"Scorpius, wake up!" Rose said loudly.
Scorpius's eyes sprung open and he stared at Rose in concern.
"What's wrong?" Scorpius asked.
"Nothing. I just wanted you to wake up," Rose said innocently.
Scorpius rolled his eyes at Rose and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Rose asked.
"To the bathroom. I'll be right back," Scorpius assured her.
"Don't leave me, Scor!" Rose whined.
"Rosie, I have to pee! Please, I'll be right back," Scorpius pleaded.
"I don't want to be out here alone and I can't come with you," Rose complained.
"Rosie, why are you being so clingy?" Scorpius asked her exasperatedly.
"I'm not!" Rose exclaimed.
Scorpius gave her a doubtful look.
"I just don't want anything to happen while you're gone, that's all. I feel safer when I'm with you," Rose replied.
"That's sweet of you, Rose, but I'll be right back. I'll even leave the door cracked so I can hear you and you can hear me. You can even talk to me while I'm gone," Scorpius said comfortingly.
"Alright. Hurry back," Rose gave in.
Scorpius smiled and put his hand on her cheek lightly before crossing the room to the bathroom.
"Scor?" Rose called.
"Yeah?" Scorpius called back.
"When is everyone else going to find out about me waking up?"
"Right now!" a voice said from the doorway.
Rose looked over to see her mum, dad, uncle Harry, aunt Ginny, Albus, James, Lily, and Hugo standing in the doorway.
"Mummy!" Rose said excitedly.
She reached out to her mother like a small child. Hermione rushed into the room and hugged her daughter.
"It's so good to see you awake again!" Hermione cried.
"Hi dad," Rose waved at Ron.
He waved back and kissed Rose on her forehead.
"Hey Al," Rose smiled at her cousin.
Albus smiled and waved.
"Hiya Rosie," Albus said.
"Lil! Come hug me! I haven't talked to you in ages! I've been so busy with work and Quidditch and whatnot! How're you and Hunter?" Rose asked Lily.
"We're fine, Rosie. The real question is, how are you?" Lily asked, taking Rose's hands.
"Oh, I'm fine. Scorpius, hurry up, would you? We've got company!" Rose hollered across the room.
"Yes, dear," Scorpius replied, edging his way through the crowd of Rose's family.
"When did you wake up, Rosie?" Albus asked Rose.
"Just yesterday morning," Rose replied, linking hands with Scorpius who had sat down beside her.
"We heard this morning," James said.
Rose nodded.
"How're things?" Rose called across the room to her brother.
"Alright, I guess," Hugo replied quietly.
"Don't seem to be. You've lost your decency to speak to me," Rose joked.
Hugo stood with his head down, staring at the floor.
"Hu, we'll talk later, alright?" Rose told him.
He nodded ever so slightly.

After everyone else had left to get lunch in the hospital cafeteria, Rose finally got the chance to talk to Hugo somewhat alone. Scorpius was the only one left in the room, but he didn't exactly count. He was just there because Rose wouldn't let him leave her side.
"What wrong, Hu?" Rose asked him.
"Mackenzie. She's upset with me. We had a huge fight," Hugo sniffled.
"What happened? Why'd you have a fight?" Rose questioned.
"I asked her about having kids and she took it the wrong way. She misinterpreted my intentions. She thought I was just after her virginity and that I didn't really love her," Hugo said.
"Aw, Hu! I'm so sorry. She'll come to her senses one of these days, I'm sure of it. Don't worry yourself too much," Rose assured him.
He nodded and hugged her tightly.
"Easy, Hu. My body is still recovering," Rose said.
"Sorry," Hugo replied, letting her go quickly.
"No matter," Rose waved him off.
Hugo smiled at her gratefully.

Later that evening, Rose and Scorpius sat in Rose's room, talking.
"When do you think they'll release me?" Rose asked.
"Not sure. They may want to keep you for a bit so they can monitor your brain and all," Scorpius said.
They both sat side by side on Rose's hospital bed. The Healers let Rose sit up on her own instead of just setting the bed upright. Rose seemed to be recovering well.
Just as Rose was about to lay back in bed, there was a faint knock on the door. Someone pushed it open a bit and stuck their head inside. Rose recognized the face almost immediately.
"Michael!" Rose squealed.
The boy, about Rose's age, came running in and hugged Rose. He released her and handed her a card and a bouquet of flowers.
"Aw. You're too sweet," Rose cooed.
Scorpius was thoroughly confused. He had never seen or met this person in his life. He hadn't a clue who his wife was talking to. He decided to get their attention by clearing his throat a little louder than he normally would have.
As soon as he did, Rose looked up.
"Oh, sorry Scor. This is Michael Newbill. He was one of my Muggle friends before I attended Hogwarts with you," Rose explained.
Scorpius nodded.
"Hi there," Michael said, extending a hand.
Scorpius said nothing; he just nodded his head at Michael and accepted his hand.
"I'm Rose's fiancé," Scorpius said clearly after a while.
"Scor, he knows. I contacted him to tell him right after it happened," Rose said sweetly.
"Why have you never told me about him?" Scorpius said, jealousy dripping from his words.
"Scor, don't tell me you're jealous of one of my Muggle friends," Rose said.
"So what if I am?" Scorpius said defensively.
"Well, you shouldn't be! He's just a friend! I went through the same thing when I suspected something between you and Val! You thought then that I was being completely unreasonable! Why are you acting the same way now?" Rose said.
Scorpius's face was flushed red and his anger was written all over his face.
"I'm going for a walk. This way, you and your secret boyfriend can have some alone time," Scorpius said angrily.
He stormed out of the room and out of the front doors of the hospital.

Rose and Scorpius are fighting again! 😑 Don't worry! They will make up and everything! I promise!

I plan to do more with Rose's friend, Michael. That will come later on in the book.
