Rose looked up and her heart leapt.

Frank was standing before her. Rose jumped up and ran to hug him.
"Frank! When did you get out?" Rose exclaimed.
"Just now," Frank replied, "I woke up last night and Madam Pomfrey said I was doing well enough to leave today."
"That's fantastic! Have you seen anyone else yet?" Rose asked.
He shook his head.
"I was on my way to find Alice, but I heard crying and came to investigate. What's wrong?" Frank asked, concerned.
"Nothing, don't worry about it," Rose replied, wiping her eyes and cheeks.
She hadn't told Frank about Scorpius yet. She felt that if they ever did get back together and Lily and James continued the examination, Frank could find out then.
Frank nodded and the two set off to find the rest of their families.

A few weeks later, Rose was packing her trunk to return home for Christmas. Her mum and dad liked for her and Hugo to return for the holiday, as did Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny for their kids. Rose enjoyed Christmas with her family and the Potters. It was always lively and fun. She finished packing and went to fetch Albus.
On her way up the stairs, she nearly ran into Scorpius as he lugged his trunk down the stairs. Rose didn't speak to him or offer him help; she just kept walking. Scorpius stared after her. He knew she would come around eventually. He would just have to wait.
Rose approached Albus's door and knocked.
"Come in," Albus said.
"Hey," Rose said as she came inside with her trunk.
"You're packed already? I'm only about halfway!" Albus complained.
Rose rolled her eyes and took out her wand.
"Watch out, Al," Rose instructed.
She waved her wand and all the books, clothes, and miscellaneous items lying around flew into Albus's trunk. Albus grinned at Rose and went to retrieve his now packed trunk.
They went down to the carriages together that would take them to the station to board the train. They approached an empty carriage and climbed inside.
Soon after they had sat down, Lily, Frank, Alice, James, Hugo, Roxanne, Dominique, and Louis came and joined them in their carriage. They all fit surprisingly, with room for at most one person left.
The carriages were about to pull off when someone came running out the front castle doors. When the person came nearer, Rose could tell that it was Scorpius.
"Scoot over!" Rose hissed at Roxanne, who was sitting nearest to her.
"What?" Roxanne asked, confused.
"Spread out! I don't want him in here!" Rose hissed. Roxanne started to scoot over, but not before Scorpius had approached their carriage.
"Do you guys have room for me? All the other carriages are full," Scorpius asked breathlessly.
"Come on, mate!" Albus said cheerfully.
Rose glared at him. He make an innocent face.
Scorpius sat in an empty space between Albus and Lily. Rose felt a slight twinge of pity before she was brought back to her senses and realized she shouldn't feel sorry for him after what he did to her.
Rose sat and stared straight ahead, trying to pretend that Scorpius wasn't there. He didn't attempt to make conversation with her, but she wasn't about to give him the chance.
They reached the station and they all filed out of the carriage. Scorpius was the last one out.
They all boarded the train. Rose, Hugo, James, Albus, Lily, Roxanne, Dominique, Louis, Frank, and Alice all sat together. Scorpius went and sat with Aiden.
They talked the whole way to King's Cross Station. Rose kept conversation to a minimum, as she just wanted to be alone to think about things. She still felt sad about her break up with Scorpius, even though she knew in her heart it was a bad idea to be with him if he was going to keep secrets.
Before they knew it, they had arrived at King's Cross. They exited the train and Rose ran towards her parents. They engulfed her in a hug. Hugo came and they released Rose so they could hug him instead. Rose went and retrieved her's and Hugo's trunks. Once there, she began to search for her trunk.
After a while, the last person Rose wanted to see appeared to get his own trunk. Scorpius climbed into the luggage car with Rose. She looked up and saw who was there. Her blue eyes lingered on his gray ones for a moment. Scorpius smiled faintly. Rose cleared her throat and looked away. She couldn't fall for him. He was obviously using her until he could get Val back. Or was he? Rose was confused.
She finally found her's and Hugo's trunk and returned to her parents. She handed Hugo his trunk and steered hers over to the barrier. She ran through and her parents followed close behind. Hugo emerged a few seconds after.
The family of four walked to their car. Ron climbed into the driver's seat. He had gotten his license right before Rose's first year at Hogwarts. Even though he denied it, the only reason he even had a license was because he had Confunded the instructor.
They drove to their house in silence. They got out at their small cottage home and Rose and Hugo got their trunks out of the back. Rose told her mum she was going to her room to nap, but she really just wanted some alone time. Hugo stayed downstairs to tell his mum and dad all about his fifth year of Hogwarts. Rose magicked her trunk up the stairs and down the hall to her bedroom. She shut and locked the door behind her. She collapsed on her bed and stared at the ceiling. A tear fell down her cheek. She had been holding in her tears ever since she had seen Scorpius walking alone down to the carriages at Hogwarts earlier. It felt wrong to see him alone instead of with her.
Little did she know, Scorpius felt the same way. He lay on his own bed, crying silently. His heart ached for Rose, but he didn't know how he could make her believe him about Val.
The two cried themselves to sleep that night, their heads pounding from crying and their hearts aching for the other.
