Our one night turned into going most of the next day and night. It was now the 21st and Dave and I had decided before we went to sleep last night that we would wait again. We were going to wait until Dave thought it was right. I woke up before Dave and headed to the kitchen to make coffee. When I turned the corner into the kitchen Taylor was sitting at the table eating a bowl of cereal.
"Well look who survived getting her brains screwed out," Taylor said as I walked over to the cupboard and pulled out two cups.
"He didn't screw my brains out. I can think clearly. Oh I should warn you that Dave knows about our drunken night before my finals," I responded with. I opened the fridge and grabbed the creamer.
"Why would you do that?" Taylor asked as I put some sugar in my cup.
"Because he asked. I'm not going to lie to him. I never did and never will," I replied as I poured coffee into both of the cups.
"Oh so you told him about the miscarriage you had after moving here then," Taylor spat at me as I put the creamer back in the fridge. I turned around and smacked him fast on the back of the head.
"No and shut up about that. You know not to talk about that," I whisper shouted as Taylor rubbed his head.
"Gees I know. If you're being honest with him then you should tell him though. Fuck you don't hit hard but you know just the spot to hit," Taylor said as I picked up the coffees and left the kitchen.
I'd apologize to him later for hitting him. I also knew he was right. I should tell Dave about the miscarriage. When I moved away, I didn't know I was pregnant. I had miscarried two days after I got to my aunts. I woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain and blood on the sheets. The doctor said I had been about 5 weeks or so and the only time I could think of was Dave's birthday. I had slept until noon and was on my way to take it when Dave came home. As I walked into the bedroom and closed the door behind me, I decided I was going to tell him. I put the coffees on my bed side table and got back into bed next to Dave. I smiled before I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. He smiled briefly and then went back to his sleep face. I kissed him again and he turned his head to the other side. I then started kissing his back in hopes it would get him to wake up.
"Babe stop. You wore me out," Dave said sleepily as I continued to kiss his back.
"I'm not stopping until you get up," I said in between kisses
"Ok I'll get up," Dave said after a few more kisses. I stopped and sat up as he turned over and sat up as well. Dave put a hand on my neck and pulled me in for a kiss. When we stopped kissing I handed Dave his coffee and then grabbed mine.
"I missed this," Dave said after he took a sip of the coffee. He put a hand on my thigh and smiled at me.
"Me bringing you coffee in bed?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No. Having morning coffee with you in bed is what I missed. We would just spend those few minutes together being us," Dave replied. Our mornings when we could do that were some of the moments that I remembered the most when I thought about him.
"I missed this too. I need to tell you about something that happened after I moved out here," I said. Dave put a hand up and shook his head no.
"I don't want details about you and Taylor," Dave said and I rolled my eyes at him.
"It's not that. Do you remember your 23rd birthday?" I asked and Dave nodded.
"What about it?" He asked, confused.
"Do you remember how when you came home, I was coming down the stairs?" I asked. Dave nodded and motioned for me to go on with his hand. "I had just woken up and I hadn't taken the pill yet. You came in and we went upstairs and had sex and that lead to something," I said. Dave stopped me by putting a hand up between us.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Dave asked after a few minutes of silence.
"Because I found out I was pregnant by having a miscarriage," I replied as I looked down at my hands. Dave grabbed them and held them in his own before holding them by the back of my hands and kissing my wrists and palms.
"I'm sorry that happened. You would have been a good mom and one day you will be. We'll have everything we ever wanted one day. I promise," Dave said. He put his forehead against mine before he kissed me. "I promise we'll have everything one day," he said again as we kept our foreheads together.
"I missed this. You being all sweet and caring," I said as he reached for his coffee.
"I should let you get ready for work, instead of being all sweet and caring," Dave said after he took a sip.
"I'm not going in today. I want to go out and do something with you. If you want to that is," I said.
"Spending the day with you sounds like a good plan. I gotta stop at home for some clothes though," Dave replied.
We finished our coffee and then got ready for the day. We decided to go to the beach but Dave needed a clean change of clothes first. We headed over to Dave's house and when we got there he left me alone in the living room. I looked around and saw a few things that he had put up in the house we shared in Seattle. I saw a bunch of pictures on a shelf and looked at them. There were pictures of his mom, dad, sister, Kurt and Krist. I picked up a picture of Kurt and Dave and looked at it. I smiled and was about to put it back when I noticed that there had been a picture behind it. I picked it up and brought it closer to me. It was of Dave and me. I had frosting on my cheek and Dave had his tongue out in mid lick.
"That's the last picture ever taken of us together," Dave said behind me and I jumped a bit.
"I didn't even know someone was taking a picture," I said as I put it back along with the other picture.
"I didn't either. Not until Kurt handed me an envelope of pictures 3 days after valentine's day. That was the last one in the envelope. Come with me. I want to show you something," Dave said. He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards his bedroom. When we got inside he let go of my hand and went into his closet. He came back with a shoe box similar to the one I had.
"What's that?" I asked as he held it out to me.
"Pictures of us that you left at the house. Or should I say the pictures you ripped apart and left at the house," Dave replied. I took the lid off the box and saw that most of the pictures in the box were taped back together.
"You did this?" I asked as I looked up at him with tears in my eyes.
"Ya. It took awhile but I managed to figure them out. You really went to town on them," Dave said as I took a couple of them out.
"I was so mad that you left and I waited for you. I waited and waited that whole week for you to come back. Why didn't you come back at all?" I asked as I let the tears finally fall.
"Because you told me I couldn't. We were two stubborn people back then and I'm sure we haven't changed much in that department. Oh that ones my favorite. You were so mad and I wouldn't stop bugging you," Dave said as I looked at the picture.
"Oh I remember. You chased me around the house for an hour until you trapped me in the bathroom which resulted in this picture of me looking like a brat and you smiling like idiot. I don't even remember why you were chasing me," I replied.
"I was tickling you and you ran," Dave said as I put the picture back in the box. I put the lid on and looked up at him.
"You used to do that all the time. We better get back or Taylor will think you screwed my brains out again," I said and walked out of the room.
I headed back to the living room and waited by the door for Dave. When he returned, I walked out of the door and got into the car. Dave came out and we headed back to mine and Taylor's place. When we got there I walked inside and went to my room to change. When I walked back into the living room Abby was there.
"Hey queen b. Taylor invited me to join you guys because he didn't want to be a third wheel. He and Dave are outside already. You ok?" She asked as I walked over and sat beside her on the couch.
"I guess. He has a box of pictures that he taped back together and one of us hidden behind a bunch of other pictures. All I wanted to do was kiss him and push him down on the bed and just," I started but stopped when I got flustered.
"Have your way with him?" Abby asked with a nudge.
"Ya but he wants to wait. I have a bad feeling about all this. We're both different now. I just have a feeling," I replied.
"Maybe he wants to sow his oats before he commits to you. Can't blame him really. He was married and all that other shit happened. I say wait until he's done fucking his way around town. You gotta make him jealous though and make him think he's going to waste his second chance. We can torture them together," Abby said in response.
I knew she was probably right and agreed to join her on this mission. We headed outside to join guys and spent the rest of the day swimming and laying on the beach. At one point Dave and Taylor were throwing a football between each other. I stood up and started walking over to them slowly. I could feel Dave's eyes on me as I got closer. He started moving closer to Taylor as I got closer.
"Dave back the fuck up," Taylor shouted as I stopped where I was.
"Just throw the damn thing," Dave shouted back as he stopped where he was.
I turned and started walking closer to Taylor and then sat down. He knew I was up to something. Taylor walked back a bit before he threw the football. I stood back up and just stood there as Dave stared at me. He shook his head and smiled as I started walking towards the middle again. When he threw the ball a made a run for it and caught it before Taylor could get to it. I ran away from Taylor as he started chasing me but I ran towards Dave in the process. When I realised Dave was coming towards me, I turned towards the water. As the water hit my feet, I felt arms around my waist and I was being picked up. I screamed as Dave started carrying me back towards the towels.
"Put me down," I shouted playfully as he put me over his shoulder.
"Give us back the football and I'll let you go," Dave responded with.
"No," I said and Dave smacked my ass. I shouted and squirmed which caused Dave to put me down. He didn't let go though.
"I'll let you call the shots tonight if you give it back," Dave whispered as he held my chin so he could look into my eyes.
"Does that mean anything is on the table then?" I asked back in a whisper.
"If that's what you want then yes," Dave replied as he pulled me closer to him.
He kept his hold on my chin as he leaned in and kissed me. When we pulled apart I handed over the football and got another kiss but just a short peck. I ran back towards the water and went swimming for a bit until Dave told me to come get ready for dinner. Tonight was going to be interesting.
