~Sang~

I stared at the small trickle of water running through the trees. It was most certainly not a romantic waterfall.

Victor looked over my shoulder.

"That is not what the guy described. You're terrible at finding things."

"Well at least it's water. I was half right."

"And yet I was fully right, a half more right than you. Sometimes I amaze myself with my own brilliance."

I scowled and punched him on the shoulder.

"You're getting as bad as Kota. Your ego is huge."

"You can see my ego?"

My eyes rolled out of reflex. "Shut up."

We had been walking for about an hour in the woods, and we'd both lost any sense of direction. I just hoped no one would steal my beautiful Bentley.

I paused for a moment, staring at a tree.

"Victor?"

"Princess?"

"I think a tree is following me."

"I think you need to take your meds. You're not supposed to be insane at this time of day."

"Shut up. Seriously, look at this tree."

Victor stopped his walking and looked at the tree.

"Very pretty, Princess."

"Does it seem familiar to you?"

"All trees look the same. We've been over this."

I frowned. "I guess so."

Victor went to keep walking, but I had an idea.

"Victor, can I borrow your leatherman?"

He raised an eyebrow, but passed it over without question. I flicked it open, getting the knife out.

I carved a little 'Victor + Sang forever.'

Victor hooked an arm around my shoulder, kissing my cheek. I smiled and leaned into him.

"Let's find us a waterfall."

~The Evil Tree~

I stared at the carving, so obvious against my bark. 'Victor+ Sang forever.'

Anger and sorrow filled me. Sang was supposed to be mine.

Then a devious internal smile took over.

They could have forever. In the afterlife.
