It was the witching hours when Ivy directed me to the passage in a Book of Shadows which gave me the clues I needed. The Book was written by an Inuit witch, and I found it up in Canada at an estate sale. In it she describes how she was able to bring out a Windego spirit from a young girl who was being controlled by it. A Windego possession was just about as bad as it got. A Windego was closer to being a elemental than a spirit, and closer to demon than both.

I read the passage, and then again, and then studied her circle with keen interest. She also had a potion that kept the Windego out of the girl on the next moon. This was interesting as well. Could I not only cure them, but inoculate them as well?

After translating this into my own Book of Shadows, I set to forming the circle of power that would draw out the spirit, wrap it in my own power and allow it to escape Mark's body.

It was almost dawn when I was ready. The other vampires covered all of my windows and doorway with blankets and heavy quilts. The AC was going full blast for lack of circulation. My head was still vibrant and clear from the blue vile potion.

The three of us began the ritual, and instantly the spirit inside of Mark didn't like what was going on. It slashed and gnashed at us. It howled in rage! It did all it could inside the circle, including attacking its host, Mark. We continued to pull it out. Once most of it was exposed I began weaving my power around its form. The deep blood red power of the Hexe attempted to thwart me several times, put she was no surgeon. She was much more powerful than was, certainly, but I had greater fine finger skills. I sliced and wrapped and pulled. The sun came up and Sarah wilted where she stood. The other vampires did the same. Selene took up the slack with me and we continued to work until well past noon, when I slid the spirit out, and put its full form into the containment circle with its head, which enjoined it instantly.

Taking a break, Selene and I ate, and each had another blue vile. I had a beer while I felt my strength return and my mind clear from fatigue.

When we got back, Mark's eyes were open, "Hey." His voice was weak and he was near sleep.

I took his wrist, "Hey, we are almost done. Just relax." Then I gently put him back into a coma.

"He looks good. Even his blood," Selene noted.

I looked over the claw marks from the spirit which tore Mark's chest, "Yes, he does. Those we can heal for him tomorrow."

"I don't think he's a vamp anymore," She noted.

"No, but he still has the Hexe's power in him. I don't want any more surprises. We clean him out all the way, and then let nature take her course."

"You're the doctor." Selene told me with a grin.

"You are going to have quite a report for Queen Mab this month."

"Yep!" She said with a wide smile.

We worked on him together, removing the power of the Hexe still inside of him, until past three. After that I was sure we had all of her shrapnel out of him.

I brought Mark out of the coma, and then brought him awake, easing him back from the procedure. I wondered what kind of shock to his system he might endure.

His eyes fluttered open and he looked around on my living-room floor. "Fuck," he breathed, "That was amazing."

"Are you hungry?" Selene asked him.

"Famished," he answered with a smile.

I watched him closely as he sat up, and then stood up. He was a little unsteady on his feet but other than that his color and health were good.

Selene led him by the hand to the kitchen and fed him grapes and cheese and cut apples, she had him drink orange juice and then gave him a glass of red wine.

"I feel like I have never eaten before." He sighed as he ate a cube of cheese, "You don't happen to have any meat do you?"

Selene made a face and then said, "Yes, Inanna and Toni still seem to find it necessary."

Despite her desire not to eat meat of any kind, Selene made magical steaks on the grill and I asked her to make two of them if she would, please. She smiled and worked her magick and soon both Mark and I were sighing with pleasure, and clinking bottles of beer together, while flowering Selene with complements.

She nodded and fed the cats. I told her I would do the dishes and she was happy with that as well.

I was leading Mark back into the living-room for a final examination when the containment circle I had around the Hexe's power shattered, and blood sprayed out of the circle, heading for Mark!

"NO!" I commanded and fired the power of Queen Mab at the hurtling blood.

A shield the size of the room interposed itself between the blood and Mark. Then the shield folded and folded again, like an origami puzzle, trapping all of the Hexe's power inside. When it was done a perfect gem of sapphire blue and blood shown on the floor of my living-room, "Don't touch it Mark."

"Good call," he nodded and backed into the kitchen.

"Shit that was close. You alright Toni?" Selene said popping her head out from the kitchen.

"Yeah, just underestimated her once again, that's all."

"Who? Mab or the Hexe?"

"The Hexe. I'll never, ever, underestimate Queen Mab."

"Good," she nodded. "That's good. I'll go ahead and do the dishes."

"Thank you love." I told her and walked over to the gem glowing on the floor. I touched it with small amounts of power, but it seemed inert. Flicking it with my finger had basically the same effect, so I picked it up and set it on my desk. "I think it's alright Mark, you can come in here, again."

"What about the spirit thing?" he asked.

I decided that one could never have enough spirit things, so I captured it inside a ruby and set it next to the ice-and-blood gem on my desk. "I should have done that with the Hexe's power as soon as you were clear. Sorry," I told Mark when he joined me at my desk.

"No worries, I'm good. In fact I'm great," He looked around at the passed out vampires on the floor. "What about them? Can you cure them as well?"

I nodded my head and looked at their sleeping forms. "Need some sleep first, and then we'll start on them tonight. Might have to do one a night though, but it won't be long before they are free of her."

"You are awesome." He said and kissed me. It was a brother sister kiss, but it still shocked me.

I looked at Selene in the kitchen and blushed. "I saw that!" she said with a giggle, "Where is mine?"

Mark blushed furiously, and I saw a rise in his board-shorts which told me he didn't have brother-sister feelings for Selene. He shifted uneasy and unable to relax his hardness.

Selene stepped into the room, walking like a seductress, and smiling at his hardness.

"Selene, don't be mean to him," I chided and that just made her smile more.

She kissed Mark on the lips, a slow sensuous kiss, "There, that'll teach you to try to steal my wife from me," she whispered in his ear. Then she walked back to the kitchen, her ass hypnotic to both of us.

"She's awful sometimes, sorry," I told Mark.

"She's amazing," he sighed and then closed his mouth with a smack when he looked at me. "Sorry."
