Chapter 42. Happy
She was scared.
Mom told us she got scared to comeback and ruin our life more. I really wanna take her explanation accepted for me but looking back at the old days, I cannot think of better reasons that would be enough to compensate everything.
Didn't she think how scared I was too? Didn't she ask herself how my life had been ruined even before? Why does she have to hide under the shadows of the man who found him? Dad died and it's not hidden to the public! She must have heard it! Why did he choose another man instead of my father? Why does she didn't even felt remorse on leaving her children alone? Why does she has to take care of other's children? Why does she has to create a new family and leave us behind?
Because no matter how much she explain, I cannot find answers to the questions in my mind.
"Try, at least."
My ever positive brother whispered to me when we are both on our way to the dining area.
I made no response because I am unsure of my feelings. I am unsure of myself.
"Good Morning, Sir! Celestine!" Bati ni Livi na nagbababa ng ulam sa mesa.
Kuya greeted her back and I just nod at her.
"Good Morning mga anak." She greeted.
"Good Morning, Mom." Kuya greeted while smiling.
Mom look at me, smiling and expecting that I will greet her back.
"Ah eh—hehe masanay na po kayo dyan, hindi po marunong yang bumati." Awkward na pag aalo ni Livi kay Mom noong unti unting nawala ang ngiti niya noong hindi ko siya binati.
Bumuntong hininga ako noong bahagya akong sikuhin ni Kuya.
"Morning." Mahina kong saad at dumiretso na sa upuan ko. Her smile start to build up again.
She accompanied both me and my brother while her two girls are silent while eating.
Kuya keep her companied and I don't speak and care at all. Matapos kong kumain ay nagpaalam ako at umakyat sa kwarto ko.
It was all boring. Hindi ako nakatiis at naglakad papuntang banyo. I take a bath and fix myself. Kumuha lang ako ng pera sa wallet ko at inilagay sa bulsa ko, incase lang naman ito. I grab my phone and walk out of the room.
Nakita ko silang lahat na nasa sala. Kumunot ang noo ni Kuya noong makita akong palabas ng bahay. He called me.
"Gin!"
Tumigil ako at hinarap siya.
"Saan ka pupunta?" Tanong niya saakin. Napatigil lahat sila sa usapan.
"Magpapahangin lang." I shortly said and make my way out.
Hindi pa masakit sa balat ang init kaya ayos lang na maglakad, afterall, it's just morning.
I contact Trey and it takes long ring before he answer.
"Good Morning, Gin." Bati niya sa kabilang linya.
"Hey." I greeted.
"Sorry. Si Mom kasi ayaw ipagamit saakin ang phone ko pag nasa hapag kainan. Kailagan ko pang lumabas."
"Hmm, it's alright." I smiled. How can his voice fix my mood like this that simple?
"Bakit ka tumawag?" Tanong niya.
"Gusto ko lang marinig ang boses mo."
Narinig ko ang tawa niya sa kabilang linya.
"Really unpredictable. Pero alam mo Gin? Kilalang kilala kita."
