"I like it." Mr. Roberts coaxed.

"Why thank you. I try."

"YOU DUMB BITCH!" Darryl punched Dessiah in her face knocking her down to the ground. Teresa then lifted her legs trying to kick Dessiah while she was on the ground since her arms were being restrained by police. "I FUCKING HATE YOU DESSIAH! I NEVER FUCKING LOVED YOU. YOUR FUCKING DEAD TO ME YOU PUSSY ASS HOE! I SHOULDA KILLED YO ASS WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE." Darryl yelled being restrained by the sheriff and the other officer. Mr. Roberts helped Dessiah off of the ground.

"Dessiah are you alright?" She nodded. Her cheekbone bled from the impact of his ring and powerful fist.

"Get them out of here!" Sheriff ordered. Teresa and Darryl were placed in the back of the patrol car. "Dessiah we should get you to a hospital to get you checked out.

"I'm okay. Sssssss" Dessiah hissed in pain on her side. Teresa got her good in the ribs. "Just to be safe let's get you checked out." The helped her towards the Sheriffs car.

"Don't you worry Dessiah I got the locksmith coming now to lock everything up. I'll take care of everything here and then I'll be by the hospital. Everything is going to be fine." Dessiah nodded and Sherriff Joe closed her door. Mr. Roberts shook his hand thanking him for his help in the matter and they were off.

Detrick sat at work with a twisting in his stomach as if something were off. He tried calling his parents to see if they were okay. They were fine and he knew Delaney was alright so it had to be Dessiah. Something was wrong with her and he could feel it. He tried calling her cellphone but there was no answer. He left messages with the front desk of the hotel. It was becoming harder to concentrate on work thinking about her well-being. He would have to find solace in knowing that she promised to call him if anything went wrong. That morning Delaney had called her before school and she kept the conversation short and shaky. Whatever she was going through was ruining his day. Detrick couldn't take the uneasiness and decided to call it an early day. He went to her house and decided to start dinner early for Delaney once she was home from school. Something about tending to her always put him at ease. Delaney truly was his sunshine.

Dessiah laid in the tub her hotel trying to soothe her body from the ache of the earlier altercation. The side of her face had swollen and would soon be blue with bruises. She was thankful for the few Percocet that the doctor prescribed or she wouldn't have made it into the tub let alone have a way out. With three fractured ribs on her side and battered face, she couldn't even imagine explaining this to Detrick. She hadn't even had time to call him back once her phone died in the hospital. Dessiah neglected to have the hospital call him because she knew he would be on the first flight to New Orleans and that's the last thing she needed if she were going to keep things under wraps. Mr. Roberts had picked her up from the hospital as promised and followed through with all he promised. The locks were changed on every door and window in the house. Only Mr. Roberts had a spare key since Dessiah would be in Georgia. She didn't even have the energy to return to the house for anything. Now she just couldn't wait for her flight in the morning so she could return home to her loves. For now she took comfort in knowing that Darryl and Teresa were in jail where they belonged.

Slowly Dessiah pulled herself out of the tub and pack for tomorrow. Once done she climbed in bed and decided it was time to speak to Detrick. There was nothing wrong withholding today's incident, at until she got home. She sighed dialing his number. Hopefully he was awake since it was a bit late in the evening.

"Hello?" Dessiah spoke.

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" Detrick spoke frantically.

"Baby I am so sorry. So much happened today and my phone died I didn't get a chance to call you back."
