I walked into the relator's office and took a seat where the woman at the desk directed me to.
I looked around at all the pictures of beautiful homes and laughed when I noticed my own was here on display. I do have a heavy heart leaving it, and if things were different I might would put up a fight for it, but unfortunately it will be easier this way.
"Ah, Nicki, I haven't seen you in so long." Clair, Eric and I's realtor said as I stood up to greet her. "Follow me this way. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting." She apologized. I shook my head and told her there was no need to be sorry as I followed her into her office where she shut the door behind us. "So," She started out, "You and Eric are looking to relocate?" I took a minute to think of what I should say. She knows Eric very well, a lot better than I do. I'm very aware that people will tell him anything he wants to here for not only their satisfaction but because of who he is. If he even had suspicion all he would have to do is ask. I know she would tell him. "Yes, well no. See, it's complicated." I started out with the truth because I've never been a great liar. "Eric is going away on a business trip that will exceed six months or so. I need somewhere to stay while he is away." I bit my lip after lying, a trait that most know, but thankfully she doesn't know me very well. "And you can't stay in your own house, because?" She questioned.
Shit. Why didn't I think about that? She must think I'm ignorant, looking to rent a condo while my husband is away on business.
Like I said, I've never been a great liar.
"See," I had to think fast, "With Eric's popularity comes a lot of fame. Majority of it is never good. When Eric leaves clearly people will notice so I feel it would be safer if my son and I lay low. I just feel I can never be too careful." Again, I bit my lip and bounced my leg up and down while waiting to see if she bought it or not. She gave me a once over before laughing. "Mothers instinct, huh?" She spoke.
I laughed nervously before nodding my head.
I watched her pick up a book and then she sat it in front of me. "These are the condo's we have that are currently vacant. Pick a few you're interested in and we will go from there."
I looked very carefully at each condo and sighed, not really knowing what I want. They're all so beautiful but I think six bedrooms is a bit much for Rich and I, and that's all I can seem to come across. I skipped a few pages and slowly the condos started to get smaller and smaller. I chose three for her, two were three bedroom and one was two.
I'm not looking for anything fancy right now. I don't plan to stay here very long. My favorite condo I chose was across from a park and it was very secluded. Exactly what I need.
"That was quicker than I thought it'd be" She said, I'm sure referring back to how long it took Eric and I to pick out our house.
"I'm not looking for anything permanent." I said. She nodded her head and chuckled, "Of course," She typed a few things on her computer before turning towards the printer.
"I'm just going to assume you'll be renting." She said. I nodded my head in agreement. "We have your banking information on file so that will save time, but would-" I shook my head, "I'll need to change that. I will be paying for this with a separate account." I interrupted her.
She had me fill out a ton of paperwork to make the process "quicker", she said. After that was done she said we were ready to go look at the condo's I chose.
They weren't but five minutes away from her office so the drive was nothing. Once we stepped out of the car I smiled at what could be our new home for a little while. It's sort of refreshing, getting a new start.
"This is the first that you chose. You're favorite, you said." She unlocked the door and let me walk in first. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the tall ceilings. They're similar to the ceiling in my foyer at the house.
The living room was nice and very spacious, along with the kitchen too. There was a lot of room for storage which I liked. Clair informed me that that everything was new, from the paint on the walls to the toilet. She said it was just finished being remodeled last month.
"I love it." I said looking around. I haven't even seen but two rooms and a hallway and I'm already sold. I followed Clair upstairs and she showed me the master bedroom which I fell in love with. It's almost as big as my room at the house and the closet is actually bigger.

The room led into a bathroom that had a shower and a clawfoot bathtub which I loved. I always wanted one but Eric said they were too small. "So, will it stay furnished?" I asked. I've heard of places doing that but I don't know if it is like that here. "Yes, but you'll pay for that too." She said. I smacked my lips and looked around. "Is there anyway I can keep certain rooms furnished and certain ones not?"
She said I could so I nodded my head while still looking around. I'll let Rich decorate his own room. "I want this one." I said. She looked shocked by my sudden decision. "Are you sure you don't want to look at the others?" I nodded my head while I still looked around.
"It's away from everything and has a park right across the street. I'm very sure this is what I want." She smiled before pulling something out of a briefcase like thing and wrote something down. "I will go through your paperwork and then we'll have to discuss payments and things like that." She said. I looked down at my phone and sighed, already missing Rich and Rihmeek.
"Not today, honey, the paperwork will take a couple days to process." She said.
I had to sign a few more things at her office before I was able to leave. Once I made it home I nearly ran through the door I was so excited to be there. "Mommy!" I heard Rich scream before I seen his little body running towards me. "Hi baby!" I said, kissing both of his cheeks. "Where was you at?" He asked.
"It's a surprise." I said with a wink before I sat him down. "Hey Rihmeek." I said once I noticed him staring at us, smiling, but never saying anything. "Have fun?" He asked. I nodded my head, "Oh yeah, lots of it." He chuckled before walking around the bar to come give me a hug. "Where did you go?" He asked. "Relator's" I whispered in his ear.
He pulled away and looked shocked. "Why?" I don't know where the sudden attitude came from, I'm confused. "What do you mean "why", you know why." I said matter-of-factly.
He shook his head, "That's not what I meant. I mean why are you seeing a realtor when I have a whole condo myself." He said and then it dawned on me why he was so upset. "I don't want to depend on you for-" I started to make up an excuse but I bit my lip and ruined it, "Cut the bullshit out," He said, and at that moment I was glad Rich was no where to be seen. "It's one excuse after the other. You can't move because you don't want to take Rich away from what he knows, you move. You don't want to depend on me, but have me watch our son. See, you say one thing but do another. If you don't want this," As he said that he pointed between us, "let me know so I can stop wasting my time." He finished. I rolled my eyes before I started to walk away. I was actually excited about this, to get a fresh start, maybe start over with Rihmeek, do things right, but of course. That gets taken away too.
"Answer me." He nearly growled. "First of all, lower your damn voice. Our son is here and he don't need to hear this," As soon as I said that his face softened and I almost lost track of my thinking. "Second of all, you know good and damn well, Rihmeek, that I want you just as bad as you want me. Just because I'm not going to move in with you right now doesn't mean I don't want us," I mocked him by pointing between us, "to work out. Before we move in together I think we should at least be together. Just let me figure things out and get back on my feet then we'll talk about that." I frustratedly ran a hand through my hair and sighed. Hoping and praying Rich didn't hear any of that. "I'm sorry, Nic." I rubbed my temples while shaking my head. "Don't be. If that's how you feel then I needed to know."
He walked closer to me and I threw my head back so I could look at his face. "Handsome bastard." I said, smirking. "Why do I have to be a bastard?" He asked, narrowing his eyebrows.
I laughed before lowering my head because my neck hurt. "Seriously though, I know you're stressed out and I only add to it. I just want you and I'm becoming impatient." I laughed, "You want me, huh?" I smirked before standing up.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and stood on my tiptoes so I could reach his ear before I whispered, "I want you too, baby."
I pulled away and walked towards the stairs to go look for Rich. Before I walked up them I turned to see his baffled expression before he quickly masked it and smirked at me.
