How to Date an Android Chapter 41

"Ruth!" I hurriedly whisper. She can hear the edge in my voice that something is wrong. We're both frantically trying to protect ourselves. Every minute we're here is getting more intense and desperate too. In spite of having a moment of control that's barely passable now, it could all unravel any second. So neither of us can relax and our movements suggest desperation.

Aren't roofs supposed to be safe?! What the heck man! This is scary. A small group of them was trying to ant pile over each other at the one edge of the roof where Ruth was covering us. If the ant pile grew big enough then yes we could be in trouble.

All while trying to not get eaten by zombies that are raging violently. One false move and we were toast.

"What?" she paused in trying to swipe at the zombies below her to look back at me with a quick glance that looks serious. Her power swings are monotonously similar to each other, but well timed and with perfect accuracy, which is good because if they weren't we'd be trying to pick zombie teeth out of her, and I'm not sure how that would affect an android. How does she make it so every hit has like a home run like perfect swing?

She's so overpowered! Wow! Plus the accuracy and agility is connecting each hit where she wants it and not just swinging wildly.

I wish I could do a swing like that. I'll have to have her help me with my technique later on, since I don't have a physics emulator or whatever it is that helps androids with their coordination. Was that part of her AI absorbing the martial techniques I had her study or part of her physics emulation programs too? Or was she like splitting her brain up into sub-processes to help increase her effectiveness?

"We might not be alone up here or at the school roof. Stay alert!" I whispered harshly, referring to the dried blood stains on the box. I didn't mean to be harsh but it's hard to whisper to her when she's ten feet away from me in the direction I'd originally come from.

I glance around again to make sure nothing sneaks up on me from behind. There are no visible zombies on the roof in sight that haven't already been dealt with. However, I don't have a clean line of sight of the entire roof. There are things like raised roof parts that block the view of each other. There's some kind of big ass ancient rusty metal HVAC section of roof all by itself that could have things hiding behind it too.

I need to be sure where the bloody handprints had come from, that were on the box. They also have myriad of sizes in the prints which are strange.

"That's...not good Jack. Not good at all," she said.

I brush away debris away from the box. Some parts of the door were covered in grime and like ground up roof parts, making parts of the box sort of partly buried to a certain point. I'd have to work away some of that.

"Stay away from the edge of the hole in the roof," Ruth warned me.

Too late...

Crap.

I accidentally was exposed to the danger of the huge hole in the roof that's about a third of the size of a classroom.

In the corner of my eye there was a flickering of movement below. There are little kid zombies all over in the room below. They were just out of sight until I had come closer to the black box. They are down in the hole below us moving and scampering about just like giant cockroaches. Really, really big cockroaches that bite like a bitch that is. If I hadn't seen them I could have been surprised. And because they already heard our voices they have spotted us easily; a 3-D view didn't help much because for some reason sound travels down easier. But it's also weird that child zombies act differently than adult zombies. Where adult zombies are slow and lumbering, the child zombies are faster and tend to stay on all fours like a dog or cat.
