Author note; there was a loading glitch on chapter 27 and 28 for some reason. Somehow it had lost 27 but its back up and fixed now and wasn't my fault. Thank you for your support.
How to Date an Android, Chapter 28
I'm trying to limp as fast as I can. I'm able to move a bit better but it will probably still be a good few months before I recover completely. My limp is still improving to the point where I'm not contorted like a man with a brain injury, but just slow.
But then I get to the garage after a full minute of constant pain. I hope I make it in time from whatever caused Sarah to scream. I pushed open the door gingerly with my heart beating a million beats per minute. Inside I'm thinking, what if the chained up kid bit one of the others?
As I open it, I've got the pipe wrench ready. I suck in my breath getting ready for the worst...
It's not what I expected. I stand there with a straight face holding the wrench.
Steve is trying to get Sarah to quit yelling. Turns out she was trying to unchain the other kid and he'd just pulled her off. There isn't even any danger. But now there will be soon because she's gotten everyone right next to the kid who was turning, I think? Or is he?
Why do his eyes have like a dead white look where the pupils should be. But he's still coughing shit up.
I really didn't need this distraction happening right when I was supposed to get my first delivery.
I swear we all knew he was a danger but just had to placate the girl that was crying...
What the hell? I guess she's one of those manipulative types. Seriously? She can fake cry so well even I was almost taken in by it. I swear that scream sounded like the real thing, like danger was really here and its more bullshit.
She is totally going over the fence...
"One more scream or yell from you and you are out of here. This is your last chance," I said. I give her the most killer stare I can manage because I'm sure she's going to look at me to see if she reads a reaction passable as walk over this guy in front of me.
"You can't put me out. It'd be my death," she's got her hands on her hips acting defiant and like a kid acting out.
"This is official probation. The next time you scream you are out of here," I said. "You didn't even have reason to scream and these are garage walls with little or no insulation."
I'm thinking the only reason we're not swarmed already is because I'd already cleaned up this street of roamers using the truck's front hood.
"You won't really put me out," she was trying to start it up again. She looks like she's had a history of being entitled too.
I start reaching for a rope. Actually this might be kind of fun, wait. I shouldn't be enjoying it right? "I'm not your dad. So go to hell and shut up," I said.
"Wait please! I'll be good, I promise!" she said.
I turned to Steve, "and why didn't you finish the job I asked you to do with painting the window glass and window sills shut?"
Steve is looking apologetic. "It took a lot just to keep her from letting that guy loose."
We turn to the sick looking bitten guy. He seems kind of out of it.
