"Ruth, there's something I need to tell you," I said. I'm sweating bullets.

This is it. It's probably going to hurt when I break this to her. My heart is pounding. I need to tell her about Barbara...

"Yes Jack?" She gives me a smile that is something like she wants to prove herself mixed with delight and aggression at the same time. She comes close to me, while I accidentally backed up, when I realized what I'd done. When I see the innocence and adoration from Ruth I think I chickened out. There's no way I can reject that look.

It's not just about beauty, but there's pure trust in me there. I was going to tell Ruth about Barbara but then my heart just felt like it was being crushed. Part of it was fear of losing Ruth and because Ruth was so innocent, albeit a bit odd at times.

"I'm glad to have you with me. Thanks for your help," I said, instead. I felt a hop in the dark and then warmth around me as she hugged me excitedly. The look on her face is how a kid hugs a parent though. It's kind of cute and funny both at the same time.

Oh wow, hugging girls is wonderful and the warmth is nice. She lingers there too and isn't releasing. Can't we just stay like this hugging all day to collect the hypnotic feeling of the warmth of her body against mine...

"Jack I have a question?" Ruth asked.

"Go ahead."

"What's that thing poking me down there?"

Oh crap...

"Uh, oops it must be something in my pocket. Anyway come, I want us to go upstairs," I said.

"So you think the perimeter is secure?" she asked.

"We did what we could tonight. But the truth is I don't think we should think it's safe too early. We should keep our guard up. For now we go upstairs and work it out. There's a lot to do still," I said.

"Oh right."

"Um sorry but the stairs are really bad. Can you help me get up to the top?" I asked.

"Oh sure, I don't mind. I can carry you, or do you prefer a piggy back ride," Ruth said.

Oh damn. Major discovery alert...I should have her giving me piggyback rides all the time. Why didn't I think of this before? It does look comical though for a 100 pound hot girl to be giving a guy about seventy pounds heavier than her a piggy back ride though. Hell if it were a real girl it would totally wreck her back. And if she's an android she should be able to be built to handle it right?

"Um, just the normal way is fine," I said.

Still maybe later I can totally go for that whole piggy back ride thing. It would be like a go cart in a way if the androids can all do it. Or should I check their carry stat weight limits first?

I had thought she was going to put her arm around me and just let me lean on her but I was surprised when instead she picked me up and is carrying me in her arms in the typical knight and princess carry. She goes up the stairs easily like it's nothing.

"Wow you are strong," I said. She's holding me steady enough I don't feel worried about being dropped and she's also got me fairly high up off the ground.

"Yeah of course. I'm one of the better models. So I can hold my own," she said. She doesn't even sound like her voice is straining. She's still holding me at the top of the stairs, but she has to go carefully and slowly while she's getting used to the dark.
