How to Date an Android Chapter 26
I hit the gas pedal on the truck and I'm trying to increase my speed as fast as I could.
Unfortunately two of the closest five rabids latched onto the moving truck and are hanging onto the sides, even though I have really great acceleration. A third rabid goes spluck under the left front wheel splashing black juice on part of the windshield and is crushed while the last two are trailing behind us but still not quitting their attempt to catch us even though they can't go very fast.
I just realized something.
Not all rabids have the same movement speed. Just like normal people there are slow and fast people and also slow and fast zombies.
Crap.
Even while picking up speed the other two are still latched on. I better lose them quickly or they'll figure out a way to get in the vehicle.
Wow they are strong. They are trying to inch up the truck towards me.
I continued to pick up speed and now I'm almost back to the other area that I was in before. But I swung over swerving to the left to try to shake him off and also so I can drive across the front lawns of these two houses. Since there aren't any fences here I can do so without worrying about running into stuff. Then I can swerve back again in the other direction to try to get another shot at shaking them off.
But it's lucky its like that with no fence on some of these properties because some of the neighbors were like me and a bit more paranoid because of break ins that had occurred about five years ago and had put up fencing.
That shook the zombie off on my right side because of swerving and then it's followed by a spluck as he goes under the wheel and is splattered and crushed.
I hate that sound, but it's necessary.
I hit the two other zombies after that trying to go in through the window splattering them instantly that rolled under the wheels and taking off my left front rear view mirror in the process. One of them I scraped off into a bush. It was a good move too because it had scraped the zombie off from my left side by impaling him between the truck, the hedge, and the house.
But it spidered a crack through the right side of the front windshield when one of them went over the hood and to the right side; which bothers me a lot. Will the windshield hold if more of them roll over the hood?
The truck has an advantage in that its high off the ground and has a lift kit so I can use it well in plowing through them. But that doesn't mean that I won't incur damage or that it's not impossible for them to come rolling towards the head, which is really dangerous.
Doing that with a deer, which aren't too much heavier than humans can sometimes total a car if the driver is going fast enough. But if you aren't going too fast and sort of hit them with a tiny bit of angle into it, it's a bit safer. I'm still no truck-deer slayer expert but that's my understanding from my grandfather telling me about hitting deer on accident with his car when I was younger.
I keep going trying to compensate for the loss of speed from the collision and the engine really has to work hard to overcome 'adversity'. But it's also crunched up the front end of the acquired truck. The front bumper and the grill paneling with the front hood are more bent up than I liked but not totaled. I'm lucky it had a front grill to cushion some of the damage and I swerve to the right going over the rabids' bodies with the truck wheels before turning out onto the street at the last possible second.
