After finishing their grocery shopping at the supermarket, the couple walked to Emily's house and dropped their purchases on the kitchen counter, deciding to go for a walk around the block to pass the time.

The closer they got back to the Fields household, the more anxious Alison seemed to get. She couldn't help but wonder what kinds of consequences -or rather experiences - tonight would hold, but there was no way to know unless she walked straight into the unknown.

By the time they came back to the house, Pam was the one to open the door for them. The woman smiled warmly at her daughter, and when her eyes found Alison, she was met apprehension, which was so different from the mischievous, somewhat-cocky glint that they usually held. She placated the girl's fears with a welcoming smile and the blonde's smiled back, breathing a bit easier.

"Alison, you're welcome to stay until your parents get here. They said they'll be arriving in-" she peeked at her wristwatch and a look of dismay dawned upon her face, "-fifteen minutes. Oh God, I'm going to get dressed. Emily, honey, keep an eye on the chicken, would you?" Pam babbled quickly as she untied the apron from around her waist and climbed up the stairs swiftly.

"Wow. I don't think I've ever seen her so jumpy," Emily pointed out, raising her eyebrow.

"Well, you know my parents. They can be kind of... tense. Maybe it's because of that?" Alison offered.

"Maybe," Emily shrugged, still staring at the stairs even though her mother was long gone.

"Come on," the blonde pulled her out of her thought, tugging her hand in the direction of the kitchen.

Emily checked on the chicken like Pam had asked her to, turning at the sound of the front door opening to find her father closing it behind him as he walked in, wearing a suit. "Hey, dad," Emily greeted.

He was holding a bouquet of daisies and smiled as he looked up to see his daughter and her newly-found-girlfriend. "Hey, Emmy, Alison," he returned the favor, acting almost childishly.

Alison offered him a smile and Emily looked down at the flowers in his hand. "Did you buy those for the dinner?" she asked as she pointed to the bouquet.

"No, actually, I bought them for your mom. She seemed a little nervous earlier today, I thought I'd surprise her," he explained to the girls and they both shared a small grin at his words. Emily knew just how much her parents loved and looked out for one another, and she hoped to have a marriage as strong and beautiful as theirs one day. Hopefully with one particular blonde.

"She's upstairs getting ready," Emily said. She barely blinked before he was already flying upstairs, holding the flowers proudly.

"Your parents are adorable," Alison stated and laughed as she watched Wayne sprint out of sight. Emily gave her a shy smile and was about to respond when-

DIIIING!

Emily had forgotten just how loud their doorbell was and flinched when it rang. She heard footsteps approaching closer and saw her parents descending the stairs quickly.

Pam adjusted her outfit and opened the door. "Ken, Jessica, please come in," she smiled kindly and opened the door wider for them. Alison's parents stepped inside the house wearing brand new clothes they had bought especially for the dinner and holding a bottle of white wine. Jessica hugged Pam and Wayne while Kenneth hugged Pam and firmly shook Wayne's hand. Emily greeted Alison's parents, not finding it as awkward as she thought it would be, and soon, they were all seated down at the table.

"Wine?" Wayne asked the rest of the grown-ups. Jessica and Ken agreed while Pam settled for a soft drink. After Pam placed down all of the plates, they began eating gracefully. Emily held Alison's hand tightly under the table as she felt herself slowly growing more and more agitated. She loved Alison with all her heart, and she wanted Jessica and Ken to like her, though, as far as Alison's mother went, she was pretty sure Jessica liked her a whole lot. Besides, something about Ali's parents made her feel intimidated at times. Just as Alison was 'teen royalty' in their high school, her parents were some of the most influential people in town, along with the Hastings, the Kahns and a few other wealthy families.
