How to Date an Android Chapter 30

Start from the beginning

"Are those what's causing the zombie apocalypse?" I asked. I wasn't sure and wouldn't have thought of it myself but it's obvious she thought that was the case. Hearing it once doesn't mean I know everything. I need to find out more about this zombie origination while I still can.

She looked down briefly, "yes. It was a hidden confidential file in the factory shop, but having confidential written on it is the same as having a big flag that says read me! But the degradation to society and government was too great at that time to get the word out. The eternal life drug causes zombie-ism."

"Crap. Wish we'd known that a few weeks ago. I've been on that stuff for years," I said.

While holding her hand I go to the second floor.

It ended up she picked me up and carries me up the stairs like she's lifting a sack of potatoes. She does it without even breaking a sweat.

"So you know about the zombies?" I asked.

"Yeah, but only because the factory was threatened so badly they put us all on the fence to defend the plant. And then like, there was all this bright lights, and then shooting, and guns. A lot of police were there, and they were getting eaten by zombies and bitten, torn to shreds in front of women and children. Then part of the fence gave way when this like huge hoard of them came together and like, but we were lucky because they had an internal fence too but they were swarming against that too, and then they were trying to get all the deliveries out before the garage was going to be overrun and..." she's in chatterbox mode again.

"Oh jeez," I almost fell to my knees.

It means anyone that was one of Barbara's contacts, which was at the garage is probably eaten by zombies. And if the factory near here was attacked then there might not be any way of knowing what happened over at the Mellifera plant.

Or did they even eat androids? Androids look the same right? So...how would that work?

"So...what's my name if I'm not Barbara? You know you are supposed to name us right when you receive us. That's partly why I panicked when you referred to a Barbara. Who is she? Am I supposed to be her? I can try to be. Please give me a chance," she asked suddenly. She's holding her hands in a way that looks like she's very nervous and scared. She's standing to the side of me while I'm facing my clothes closet.

It's another proof they are different. Suddenly it dawns on me what just happened.

There are two Barbara's now. I'm sure of it.

And the wrong one just got delivered I think.

This wasn't supposed to happen at all.

So if there were two of her...then was the real one still at the Mellifera garage shop still?

"Are you OK honey?" she asked in a worried voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine. You know it's so nice to have you here," I said taking her hand and holding it.

"Oh thanks. You're so sweet. I'm going to like being with you," she said smiling brightly.

Wow, she's too perfect.

I'm also worried about showing her to the teenage boys. That would not be good...especially if the only other girl was someone's sibling and a spoiled angry kid to the other one. Would they be disciplined enough to not try to take someone else's girl? I mean if Barbara is like this good looking, there's no way someone wouldn't try something. She's just got too much allure and sex appeal.

"So aren't you going to give me a name?" she asked. She looks as happy as a girl on her wedding day.

"Yeah I will. I'm thinking of one and want it to be good. I don't want something I'll wish I'd spent more time on later. I was hoping to come up with a list together and work it out with both of us," I said.
