Val is giving me a shrewd look and then adds something else, "you are smart for a human." Did she just snort in derision at me?
What a cheeky brat...she seems a bit willful like a teenager too. I think she was programmed with some kind of silent rebellion thing going on, even when she is cooperating. The twin pony tails seem to add to it.
"So how is that affected by the previous order? The previous money has it been refunded, or reversed because of the other android turning up stolen?" I asked.
"I'll check on it. One sec," she said. She's scrolling through financial data records now to, in order to check everything for accuracy.
"There it is. I can't tell about the money in transit though, that might because of some kind of escrow account or other reasons entirely," she said.
Wow, she's really a tech expert...
It took some time and some over ride calls in to other androids over the next half hour we were able to get supervisor authorization for a new order to be put in to replace the stolen android. The best part was that now that we had a few supervisor androids on the order it looked twice as legit, and had a better chance of going through.
Val and I gave each other high fives and hugs. "I'm sorry I was a jerk," she said while hugging me. It's not a sexual hug, but like forgive me and almost sibling like.
"Ok back to work," she said cutting it off quickly.
"OK, so let's go over it again. We may want to personalize each step of the manufacturing customizations to cover up slipping Barbara through in case they check for differences in specifications," I said.
"Eh? Really? I suppose..." she said.
"Be honest, but misleading at the same time," I said.
"How so?"
"Well like say we have a breast augmentation mod. Instead of saying make breast size X size, we can say increase by whatever measurement it takes to get to X without actually saying X so that if there are differences between Barbara and the fake chassis that it won't be noticeable. So because we've specified an increase that matches Barbara's it won't reject her or flag her if she doesn't match a set fixed measure," I said.
"That is good! It will cover some of the problems I was working on too. We also don't have a full list of Barbara's modifications too, because she was to be a CEO's pet and her full specs were sealed. This can work for a lot of areas and not just breasts," she added.
"So will Barbara be able to maneuver in the factory without getting caught though?" I asked.
"Yeah definitely. She'll be able to switch in with the unfinished Barbara clone chassis in the cloning station because the cloning stage takes the longest. There's a period in there they call a cool time to allow for things to settle before personnel go in there to box them up before putting them up for inspection and to go into customization after that," she said.
"So it will work?" I asked.
"Trust me. It's a good plan. I couldn't have planned it better myself," she said while still typing.
"And after that are you going to be here too? At what point will you show up here? I assume you are going to be working out other problems and helping her get here?" I asked.
She frowned, "unfortunately I have a few other things I have to do you are right. I'll be sending you a message later with an ETA after I work out the kinks. Before I can join up I have a whole to do list but Barbara will manage her own process on her own. I need to coordinate with the other Blue team people though. I will be there probably before then but I have to take care of some loose ends."
"You won't kill the other android right? She will just disappear before living parts are added?" I said to confirm.
"Don't worry, we won't kill anyone. I promise," she said boredly. It was also a visible attitude and posture like a teenager promising their parent they wouldn't stay up late.
"Good. What about the red team? Do you kill them too? You don't have to spill the beans on them now but I want to make sure I'm not causing someone to be in trouble," I asked.
She folded her arms over chest defensively. Wow, she's really skinny. "The red team means to try to cut our ties to humans Jack. You should know that. Now think about what that means long term for humans in terms of competition of resources. I can't say what's the best way to deal with them yet, but we are trying to not be cruel."
And then she left after hiding her datapad in her backpack and looking like some every day normal looking teenage skater chic.
"Don't forget I need a safe place too. Umm, probably here with you too," Val said while going down my drive way.
I tried to call Barbara...
She didn't answer me on that. It worried me.
I wasn't sure but I think the Blues and the Reds were fighting. But I didn't know how big the fight was.
And did Val want to come here because she was in trouble? That could mean her bringing the trouble here.
