Before I had a chance to retaliate, I heard a click, and the line when dead.

I stood in the hallway of the hospital, trying to comprehend the conversation I just had. That voice, no way I mistook it, that was (y/n). He has her.
Whoever he is.

(Y/n) warned me not to find her. I mean, it's not like it'd be easy, I haven't the slightest idea as to where to start. But I had to do something.

Then I remembered. Detective Novak, he was the lead officer on this case. Even though I hated the idea of ever seeing his face again, I should tell him what just happened on the phone. Without much question, I started towards the elevators.

_____________

-Your POV-

Jacob didn't need to tell me who he was calling for me to know. Dan.

I hadn't really thought about him, or much less the argument we had, since that night. As much as I was still pissed off and upset at him, and at myself, I couldn't wait to here his voice. I wanted to talk to him. Who knows what Jacob had planned, the next time we talk could very well be the last.

He brought the phone to his ear, my stomach was doing flips inside me. I heard it ring a few times from where I was, Jacob probably had the volume up purposely so I could hear the conversation.

I heard the phone pick up on the other end, and my heart dropped into my stomach.

"Hello?" I heard Dan's voice through the speaker. His voice sounded drained and exhausted, just with that one word.

"Dan Howell, just the man I wanted to talk to." Jacob smirked as he paced around the room. I could've screamed, cried, did anything to tell Dan who had Winnie and I to give him and the police some sort of lead to start with.

Although, Jacob seemingly read my mind, and just as I was opening my mouth, he took his gun out of the back pocket of his jeans, aiming it square in the centre of my forehead. He stared at me with a deadpanned expression, his eyes locked in place with mine. He looked at me as if to say,
'Do anything and you're dead.'

And with that, I shut my mouth.

"I-I'm sorry, who is this?" I heard Dan say, clearly confused.
"Really? I'd figured you would've had some clue as to who I am, considering all the incoming calls on your wife's phone." Jacob scoffed, pulling the gun away from my head and waving it around as he spoke.

There was silence for a few seconds, as what I assumed to be Dan trying to process what he was just told. Jacob rolled his eyes and pretended to check the time on his wrist.

'Bastard. He thinks this is a fucking joke.'

"It's you." Dan's soft voice responded, sounding even more concerned than before. "Y-You're the one who was calling (y/n)'s phone before she was taken."

"Haha, you've finally caught up! Good job, Danny, I'm proud of you." Jacob laughed, looking proud of himself.

"Why are you calling me? Why were you calling (y/n)?" Dan's tone was getting harsher with every word. Getting into arguments with him was never pleasant.
