Darkness.

All I could see was darkness.

Black. Emptiness.

I could barely see my hands that were just two feet in front of my face.

The darkness seeped into me, crawling under my skin and taking over my body, making me vulnerable and afraid.

It was cold, damp, I couldn't stop myself from shivering. The wet and frigid air made the circumstances even more frightening.

I was alone.

Or was I?

I heard something, someone, sniffling and calling me off in the distance. It was quiet at first, but the voice continuously got louder as it echoed through the dark room.

Wait, was it voices?

"Mummy!" One voice cried, followed by a different one soon after it.
"Mummy, please help us!"

I whipped around, frantically looking for the sources of the familiar voices. My eyes finally landed on two girls sitting on the ground, their hands tied behind their backs and tears streaming down their faces. They were the only things I could see, surrounded by the sea of black.

"Winnie?! Hazel?! Oh my god!" I screamed, my heart sinking in my chest as I watched my daughters struggle against their ties. Their arms and faces were covered in scars and bruises, just looking at them in that state made me sick to my stomach.
They continuously called to me, looking over at me with fearful eyes.

I tried to get to them, tried to run towards them and get them away from this awful place, but every step I took, every movement I made, they seemed to get farther and farther away from me.

I called out to the two of them, I screamed until my throat went numb and my head started throbbing, as if that would help in any way.

I stood there, helpless, watching my daughters with fear for their lives, until I heard another panicked voice behind me.

"(Y/n)?!" The voice cried out, sounding considerably closer than Winnie and Hazel were.

I quickly spun around, instantly recognizing the voice as my heart sank deeper into my chest.

"Dan?! No, no!" I cried as I saw him on his knees, hands tied behind his back aswell. His face was all battered and bruised, he even had blood dripping from his nose and from a few scars scattered across his face. His clothes were torn and his hair was a mess, it hurt me to see him like that.

I took a few steps towards him, but, just the same as Winnie and Hazel, Dan just seemed to get farther away from me.

"(Y/n), you need to get out of here! Get the girls and run! Please!" Dan yelled, his eyes wide with panic. I opened my mouth to reply, but no sound came out. I couldn't speak, no matter how hard I tried, my voice was gone.

I stared at Dan as I felt a few tears fell down my cheeks, my heart beating faster every second.

As Dan kept trying to convince me to get away from this awful place, I heard something.
Soft at first, but continuously getting louder every minute. I stood there for a second until I finally caught on to what the noise was.

Footsteps.

Getting closer

and closer

and closer.
