Chapter Two

Katelyn Pov

"Doctor, you have a patient in room D38.(😉)"

I nod, quick pacing my way to the room. Once I pull back the curtain, I smile wide.

"Hello, Mr. Anderson. How are you today?.. Where is Mrs. Anderson?"

Mr. Anderson is a 86 year old man. Everytime he comes to me, it's always something about his spine. I've told him to go into surgery, but he refuses, and I understand why.

He doesn't want to leave his wife of 54 years.

"I'm fine. She went out to get us something to eat."

I nod, taking a look at his x-rays...

"These x-rays don't look so good, Mr. Anderson..."

"Mmmhhh.. Yeah, I just came back for some more pain pills."

Shaking my head while dragging out a deep breath, Mrs. Anderson comes in with some banana pudding and a bottle of water. I watch her hand him the pudding first.

"Damnit, woman. I wanted some Lay's... What did you get me? A cup of some damn hospital pudding."

He shakes his head taking a spoonful of pudding, and stuffing it in his mouth.

"Oh, shut up James."

"No, you... You old bat."

"You shut up, you old coot."

"No, you sh-..."

"Um, excuse me."

I politely interrupt. Mrs. Anderson looks up, and gives me a warm smile.

"Yes, sweety?"

Smiling, I begin to speak.

"I'll just fill out a prescription for your pain Mr. Anderson. If I see you two more times, I'm giving you a stronger additive."

After finishing up their business, I watch them walk hand in hand, smiling into each other's eyes like a movie. It's like, when they look into each other's eyes, they fall in love all over again.

As I clock out, I notice my phone ringing. Lisa.

"Hey."

"Hey, Lisa. Wassup?"

I hear her sigh, indicating a long, hard day of work.

"Nothing. I called cause Chris has been asking about you all day. He constantly says your name. Kate... Linn.. It's what he's been saying all day."

Smiling, I slip out a laugh.

"Oh, wow. Do you want me to visit?"

"Yes, please. Is tomorrow a bad time?"

"Just perfect."
